People don't understand the story is built around raw human emotion and their only argument for the "bad story" is that THe chARActers ARe ACtiNG STUpid, even though that's the whole point of the game.

You have be an empath to fully understand the game, and a lot of people are not, sadly.

And Abby's section is the best part of the game.

The game set up the story as stupidly as possible and forces you to play as someone you probably don't really like for 50% of it. I was hooked until the switch then I just wanted it to be over. From a gameplay standpoint it's awesome, though. The story is just stupid as shit.

No. There are plenty of choices the story takes that do not pay off. The entire structure of how it is told is one of the most egregious.

If she had any, and I mean any, character growth or interest shown in her friends prior, than maybe. But you already know exactly what happens to each one of them. It's a waste of time, and the in between bits where they attempt to flesh them out completely fall flat and do not really do anything. Seriously, a pregnant woman about to pop is still sent out on rotations? Stupid. I was fine with Lev, I thought the switch over to being empathetic Abby shows how she feels guilty about what happened to Joel even at a subconscious level, but from that point on it just tried super hard to be Joel + Ellie 2.0 and did not get enough time or scenarios to really make that happen properly. It just feels wildly forced.

"The ending" is about as spoilery as i'll get, but i still think it's well-made. It's Oscar Bait in video game form.

I loved the game and thought people just got butthurt after reading leaks about Joel's death.

I went into the game blind so it was a big surprise how everything played out. What a wild ride.

yeah Abby is beyond jacked. I enjoy how shes smaller in the flashbacks but still talks about lifting. Making you feel like its not just a random thing

Which is dumb IMO. This game does nothing for the zombie genre and further its tropes and stereotypes such as "Humans are the real monster". These cinematic movie games don't believe in focusing on gameplay anymore.

maybe the difficulty setting really determines your experience.

im playing on survivor, and its perfect. Plenty of fights or scenarios where I got stuck for the day

Even the most jacked male body builder on the planet cannot crush the skull of another person. And no matter how much whining some people like to do, women are not as physically strong as men. Men have roughly 50% more muscle mass then women. If the strongest man on the planet can't do it during the best of times, a woman sure as fuck can't during the worst of times.

I don't have anything against TLoU2 in particular aside from it bricking my PS4, I just dislike zombie apocalypse settings enough that I never cared enough to finish the first one. My one really superficial complaint about the series is that I really hate how the boxart got progressively worse looking with each successive entry. TLoU1 on PS3 had great boxart, the remaster had boring boxart, and TLoU2's boxart is literally just an angry dirty face, if it wasn't a popular IP I wouldn't give a game with TLoU2's boxart the time of day.

The main criticism I see about the game is that Abby is ugly.

Itsa very realistic game in terms of human choices. I like what they did despite the hurt I felt from the first chapter.

I didn't like Joel. And I can say to me this game was still bunk. And the fact that she let Abby go pisses me off more then anything else. We see this a lot of movies, tons of the middle men or grunts are killed, but when it comes to the person the "hero" was looking for they are like, No I will not kill you. Fuck that all those lesser people got killed but not her. And double so after she eats her.

I will say though that most complaints people have about Abby's physique are massively overblown. Like, one of my favorite female video game characters is Sakura Ogami from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, and her physique is even more ludicrous. So as least I don't hate on characters for superficial reasons? lol

I don't like its bland characters, revenge plot, and most importantly that it isn't a good horror game. Besides ground zero there was almost no attempt to infuse any kinda horror to the experience, there is no tension to the gameplay and it becomes a repetitive chore
Dialogue is well written and very well acted but the plot just isn't my cup of tea, Silent Hill 3 did it better

I finished the other night and Im still thinking about it. Not many games can do that and I thought incredible experience. There were some things that were shoe horned in that made me roll my eyes and took me out of the experience, but as a whole everything was just so well done

The split is kinda crazy. I cant remember the last time a game had people on such polar opposites. Almost no middle ground lol

What is her character development? "I still feel all hurty inside because revenge didn't do anything and I need to quell this hurty-ness with attempting to go above and beyond for a stranger that did something nice for me while ignoring my friends"? What brave growth. Never mind the fact that she was fully about to slice a pregnant girls throat. She's a selfish jackass that does some good while damning everyone else in her life (wow sounds like Joel! Surprising!)

The game could have done something interesting but instead just fucked with the story telling to tell a very basic story on "revenge bad, humans are really bad sometimes, okay?" that leaves the player just feeling upset and empty. Oh, is that the theme of the game? Cool, what a fun time.

it doesnt have many jump scares. Its more of finding the correct approach for each spot.

sometimes you gotta stealth, sometimes you gotta Rambo.

then youll be forced to run for dear life. Trying to find the correct path on the fly can be stressful

You guys have to realize that TLoU is one of those award baiting games where they focus highly on characters, plots, presentation, acting and similar things. These are what I consider "Cinematic Games". And through this, other things such as the fighting mechanics suffers. This is a zombie game and yet you'll notice no one ever talks about this part of the game.

I really dont feel like this is strictly a cinematic game. Id reserve that for titles like heavy rain.

I will say that Im usually one to skip cut scenes, but Ive watched every one for tlou. No music or anything.

Except the gameplay is incredible. I think they did one hell of a job balancing gameplay and story/cinematics.

Was definitely deserving of all the GotY titles it received.
