The tournament is heating up as we enter the second round tonight. We'll see top seeds trying to avoid huge upsets, former all-stars looking to continue their redemption arcs after disappointing regular season results, and the ultimate meme bot trying to keep its cinderella run alive.

You can see the full bracket by clicking the link above, but keep in mind that it does show the results of the first round matches, so don't accidentally get yourself spoiled if you're not fully caught up. Also, I have a massive headache right now that I'm taking a bunch of Ibuprofen to try and take down, so I might not be able to watch the action as it airs like I've been doing for the entire season. But whenever I do watch it, I'll be here to talk about it.

Some good matches based on that bracket.

I feel like Ribbot might get a taste of the receiving end of its berserk rampage from a few episodes back. One hit from Uppercut might tear it to pieces...

You can definitely feel the spinner meta coming off the bracket. Whether it is horizontal or vertical most of the bots are sporting them.

Thankfully, my headache's gone down enough for me to be able to watch the show. For those of us here... IT'S ROBOT FIGHTIN' TIME! Sawblaze vs. last season's runner-up Witch Doctor is leading us off.

Three fights in and already two huge upsets. Ribbot survives Uppercut despite being in absolute shambles after the fight, and Tantrum tanks Bloodsport's hits to take a judge's decision victory. Three of the top four seeds coming into the tournament are now out.

After the fight we just saw, I totally agree with you now. With the former champion Tombstone out, that means we are guaranteed a first-time BattleBots champion this season.

Holy shit. So many upsets tonight.

I'm really sad Witch Doctor got KOed again, but I like Sawblaze too. That match was a heartbreaker for me personally lol.

I can't even deal with Ribbot winning lol. Is it the new Duck? I'm hoping so hard for them to win the entire championship now (even though I know it's got no shot lol)

I really wanted to see WD and Tombstone get further. I'm sad!

Oh well, a lot of split decisions, and tbh, I honestly didn't think any of the split decisions were really worthy of being split decisions. All the ones I thought won did indeed win, but still, I thought it should have been more unanimous.

Oh yeah, also, I think Hyrda's a really fun bot to watch, so I'm hoping it makes it all the way on its side. As for the other side, honestly, I like basically all of them a lot. I slept on Tantrum after I believe it's first fight, so I actually kinda want to see it go to the semi-finals just because when it design works, it really works. Endgame and Shatter probably my favorite bots of the competition left, both just are aesthetically pleasing and are really fun to watch. Shatter had to face a realllly awkward bot this round, so I do feel like getting to return to more standard bots will help it out.

Ribbot, I feel it's time has to come to an end, idk, you don't get as much time to repair your bot as far as I'm aware, and after that fight, I just feel Black Dragon has more left in the tank after how quickly Tombstone's blade kinda just died.

A hammer bot winning in 2021 certainly would be something lol. I like them though, they seem like a bunch of cool cats, and Shatter itself is futuristic looking.

Yeah, they're still the villains of the league. If someone can catch the flipping arm out of position the bot will be forced to run around and bleed off additional aggression and control points.

As other people said, and has been completely crystallized in the performance of Tombstone, old guard designs are falling to the wayside. It's time to innovate or die.

Oh, and though they lost, props to Gigabyte for making a total tank of a full body spinner. Somewhere Captain Shredderator should be crying robo-tears after witnessing such a spectacle of durability.
