20 y/o Sophomore Stone Foltz, a fraternity pledge at Pi Kappa Alpha and student at Bowling Green State University in Ohio has died after he took 40 SHOTS of BEER at an alleged hazing incident!!

He was hospitalized and in critical condition when he was sent to ProMedical Toledo Hospital where he died 3 days later.

His mother shared the statement on social media asking for privacy and to not post comments on what they heard as they process now on how to donate his organs

The international fraternity reissued a statement stating an incident of an off campus alcohol related hazing occurred and were horrified and outraged by the incident as they have a zero tolerance policy toward illegal activity and substance abuse, bullying and harassment.

They will pursue a permantn suspention of the Delta Beta Chapter and expulsion of all chapter members of the international fraternity.

Foltz was dropped off at his apartment at 11-1130pm but shortly after his roommates or friends found him unresponsive and called 911.

A student and friend of his overheard his roommate stating "We have to drink a handle of any alcohol that our big gives us. We have to finish the whole thing in the time we're there before we leave"

A handle of alcohol or a bottle equates to 40 shots

He wished to remain anonymous and said "I've never seen my roommate more drunk in his entire life. He immediately went to the bathroom and was throwing up in the toilet for 15 minutes to an hour and making myself vomit"

Local law enforcement is now involved as the university is working with officials on what happened.

1.75l, which that graphic says is 39shots, doesn't seem like that much beer. 1.75 liters is about 1 and a half 40oz beers.

According to the picture, that's not even a 6 pack.

Tragic. Over consumption of alcohol can be deadly but I find it unlikely 40 shots of beer was all he had to drink.

What kind of beer was it? That wasn't a lot.

Situations like this is why we have laws here regarding the usage of alcohol in hazings. (And we have had those for a long time, as such problems were already noticed by the government and society over 2 decades ago)

Also, yes, I know, certain amounts of alcohol or any liquid could kill someone outright, but I have no idea whether half a gallon could do that, as I have no idea how much that is.

It's pretty much midwest natural selection. Those whose bodies can't survive the riggers of excessive cheese, sausage and alcohol are quickly eliminated, leaving the strong few capable of surviving the harsh saturated fats and alcohols that this region demands. Only those of strong arteries and livers can survive there.

Shots are the worst unit of measurement we've ever come up with.

No one knows how much alcohol he drank. You go to webmd and they use the word "shots" like anyone's supposed to know what that means.

A liter of beer is not a lot given that beer is maybe 3% alcohol tops unless you go for higher grade stuff which college kids probably wont go for.

40 oz of liquor is a lot and you are using a liquor based chart. Your average liquor is 40% alcohol content by comparison.

if he drank 40 oz of vodka in a short period of time thats a lot.

my guess is that there was more he drank than beer.

still that isnt the point of the incident.

Everyone knows what a shot is, dude. It's 1.5 fluid ounces or about 45mL.

I'll assume this is from spirits as that makes more sense. Still this is sad news for all involved. Drinking "responsibly" is important.

My friend's brother died in a fraternity hazing a couple of years ago. Hazing has to be one of the stupidest things ever. My old roommate was 'hazed' by having his bookbag filled with rotten eggs and other rotten food. He brought his bookbag back to the dorm and the whole place smelled like shit. So dumb.

Ok so something else is going on here. if these are normal .5 oz shots you can get 24 shots in 1 can of beer. So that isn't even 2 beers? Something 100% else had to be going on here. We used to try for the Century Club which was 1 shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes...

We've done it multiple times...

I once tried with a 2 ounce cup. Something like 14 beers in an hour and half.

It is however entirely possible this killed him but more details need to be known. Is he missing the lining to his stomach? was it his first time drinking cause if not then hed likely be aware of my first point.i have a uncle who cant drink cause even a small amount will kill him.

Unless it's got alcohol poured freshly into it, most foods that are cooked with alcohol are just done so for the added taste. The boiling point of alcohol is only 173F/78C, so in anything which is cooked to a reasonable temperature, it cooks off.
