So I'm sort of at a crossroads. I've been rolling with my main group of Primrose, Olberic, Cyrus, and Ophilia and they've been doing great. Even got secondary jobs now. And I've completed all their Chapter 2s.

Unfortunately, the other four have been neglected. How badly? Well my main four are around lvl 30-35 now. The rest? Lvl 17-18. >_>

I think they'd get one-shotted if I attempted their chapter 2s right now.

But it seems a lot to grind just to get them to their respective level requirements to their chapters. I tried to do Olberic's Chapter 2, with a level 27 requirement, with him at level 25 and that was still a struggle. Can't imagine how badly a level 17 Tressa in her level 22 requirement chapter will do. (Yes, I can. Badly)

So should I just ignore them and finish the stories for Prim/Cyrus/Olberic/Ophilia or switch one or two out and grind the underused's levels? Prim's chapter 3 requirement is a steep 40 so it seems either way, I'll be grinding. And I thought you guys said this game wasn't that grindy. :p

@CyricZ
@Tyranthraxus
@Esrac
@the_rowan

and the other people from my last topic, pls help. >_>

Definitely level all of them. You need to use all 8 for the final boss anyway.

Oh I know that I need all of them. I'm asking if I should finish the stories for the first four first, then continue with the second group, or should I use my strongest 2-3 to baby the weaker ones.

I played doing all chapter 2s, then 3s, then 4s saving the first MC for last. You get a few extra ending cutscenes if you do it this way but nothing to do with story so you don't have to do it.

So what's the best/fastest way to do it then? Strongest 3 + 1, Strongest 2 + 2? Best grinding spots?

Man Primrose is gonna be like level twenty levels ahead by the time I'm done >_>

There's an enemy called Cait that gives unga bunga exp when you kill it. It's not even hard. Maw of the Ice Dragon is the best place to go hunting for them.

You might have to run from non cait battles though. Failing that the best grinding spot is that forest you can access from Olberic's chapter 2 town. It's pretty dangerous though so stay near the entrance, blow everything you have in the first fight then run back to town to heal.

This one, kinda.

Out of the gate I always did character whose storyline I'm doing + then my two lowest units. Never had to go out of my way to grind.

But how to get there from your current crew, probably MC + Cyrus + two lowbies, and then swap out Ophelia with scholar sub when Cyrus gets too strong. For most of the random battles, sweep through with dancer/Peacock strut + merchant/BP donate + someone with maxed scholar and blast everything with magic. It's a little rough on the MP, so the 4th can be someone with thief who knows steal sp + donate sp.

In Tressa's first town, you should have the option to buy or steal two accessories - think it's beast scarf and dragon scarf -- the regen is nice.

imo once everyone fleshes out their primary skillset, they should learn like two skills max from other secondaries of choice and then save hard for fleshing out Ranger but Patience is an amazing skill.

I personally only recruited the 4 with rogue class actions, played all of their stories from start to finish as one party. Then I recruited the other 4, and played through each of their stories as just them.

Oh TC I wanted to warn you about something WRT to the final boss. There's no story spoilers here but I'm blocking it anyway:

Before you get to fight the final boss there are 8 bosses you have to defeat. The game let's you defeat them in any order however you should do the entire top row left to right and then the entire bottom row left to right. Otherwise you might accidentally spoil yourself by getting major plot reveals out of order.

Thanks for the tip.

I farmed Caits at the North Wellspring Pass (or whatever it's called) and caught up my stragglers that way so they're decently leveled. My MC and Olberic/Cyrus are kinda overleveled now tho but oh well. >_>

I completed the chapter 4s of my main team before switching to the secondary. The gear you get will more than make up for the level difference.

That was my original plan but @Tyranthraxus said you miss extra scenes if you do it that way so I resigned myself to doing things "in order" lol It's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

He was referring to travel banter. During each character's chapters 2-4, each other party member has a point in the chapter where they'll strike up a conversation. Unless you swap out each party member on each chapter (at just the right times) you'll miss those scenes anyway.

that's fine. its actually more efficient to play and beat through all 4 chapters with one set of four characters and then continue on to the second set after.

your second set can borrow weapons from your second set and finish the chapters much faster.

fyi: you're going to need to back track with therion to all the previous dungeons to open the purple chests, as well as current ones.

imo, it would have been ideal to have tressa or therion in different sets, cause tressa can barter/buy items from npcs and therion can steal, but oh well. it's cool

There's not really any special trick to it. It just takes fucking forever because it has very small windows of vulnerability.

After you beat the final chapter boss with your main protagonist the game will play a recap of all your boss kills during the credits. If you rush to finish the game with your MC you'll miss those recaps.

The "final boss" is completely optional and also absolutely not worth pursuing because of the extreme difficulty spike. Level all of them if you have an interest in finishing all their story arcs, otherwise do whatever.

Hold up

Explain this one

How is the final boss "optional"? >_>

There are 8 individual stories for each character, and when you complete them you finish that story. If you complete all 8 and a certain sidequest chain, then you can do a sidequest that's the final boss and ties together some of those stories. You're not led there, it's not a "main quest." You basically just have to find it

There definitely are very specific class combinations you need to use to beat it, unless youre very over-levelled

maybe you stumbled into those on your own, but the rest of the game doesnt require any real strategy once youve leveled up your characters a bit so it doesnt really prepare you for it

If you want to understand how the 8 paths are connected to each other you have to do the final boss. It's only optional in the sense that recruiting the other 7 characters is optional.

Doubtful. I just set up two balanced parties and one-shotted it. It took me 3 hours but I did it and completely blind as well I had no idea it was going to be that difficult. I also made mistakes in terms of which party went in which order.
