While, yes, there was fighting in Civil War a lot of it was standard stupid quipy nonsense like usual though.

Spiderman and Cap, Widow and Hawkeye, etc were pretty much "guess we fight now!"

Well I was thinking about the original Avengers movies where they formed which is kinda this Justice League cuts counter-part. It's not my fault the MCU movies have had a million movies since then. Maybe they bickered some, but at least Civil War wasn't before the first Avengers.

They didn't really get along in the original Avengers until the very end when they HAD to come together to stop the invasion!

And Hulk still punches Thor away in the middle of the final battle.

The only time the Avengers as a team aren't falling apart is in the first 15 minutes of Ultron, and in Endgame. They're a total mess otherwise.

Movie was actually decent overall surprisingly. Fight scenes were pretty cool. Epilogue was unnecessary and kinda stupid and some other stuff was a little annoying too like how long the intro shockwave was, the mountain of slow motion and Wonder Womans AHhhhhHahhhheaahhh theme playing almost literally every appearance she had. Kinda dont like how a lot of Batmans stuff is just off screen stuff you never see in the DCEU too and its still super weird seeing him use guns and murder stuff >_>

I watched the first half.

Absolutely puzzled by the constant use of one woman wail. It went out of fashion like a decade ago and now whenever I hear it, it seem like a parody. Really annoying choice that is taking me out of the movie every time it comes on.

Anyways I think I would rank this decently high among the DCEU movies even though 4 hours is just seriously exhausting for a movie length. Like at the very least this is better than MoS, BvS, SS, WW, original JL and WW84. I might like Shazam and Aquaman a bit more. Havent seen BoP yet.

It was really slow and tbh quite boring. I never saw the original so don't know it compares but...meh.

Cavill and Momoa can't act their way out of paper bags. Cyborg was just boring and I couldnt care about him. Flash was tedious.

I actually don't mind Affleck as Batman and WW is great. But they weren't enough to keep my interest.

watching Civil War right now and it doesn't feel like there's a lot of quipping going on when they're fighting each other aside from Spider-Man and he better be quipping

you can levy that criticism at Age of Ultron but I think they toned it down here

I'm particularly disappointed in Johns enabling and engaging in all sorts of toxic corporate garbage, since he is largely how I got into comics in the first place. But honestly, I can very easily believe it.

I do think this is part of it but to be clear I largely think Johns has bought into the corporate culture as well. He's always been a bit of a "cool bro nerd" and around the Nu52 era and when he was made Chief Creative Officer or whatever you could see his priorities shift. Johns became much more focused on The Brand and the few series he wrote started to feel even more like halfhearted movie pitches then previously (not that he didn't still put out some occasional hits). To go along with this his writing would occasionally rely on some 2D diversity stereotypes from time to time. I didn't think it was anything major but in hindsight it was kind of some rainbow capitalist vibes.

Anyways, I would have maybe have been more willing to give him a pass if these incidents were more isolated but his PR response has been so truly and insultingly laughable that I've just lost too much respect for the dude. his green lantern forever slaps tho

Johns' degredation as a writer is part of what got me to stop buying weeklies a few years ago, since he was definitely my driving force for the single issue format at the time (also I was buying like a dozen comics a week and financially it was a big oomf). Doesn't effect how incredible his work in the past was, I just spent over $100 on his Justice Society of America Omnibus last week.

Maaaan I never got around to reading that run and now it would be weird. Never got around to buying the GL omnibuses either which are doubly cursed because EVS became a comicsgater!

Justice Society of America is one of my favorite comic book runs of all time (awkwardly its actually volume 3 of the Johns' Omnibus, as volume 1 and 2 were not his scripts), and I truly believe it's from a time when that laughable virtue signaling from his representative seen in the tweet above was actually legitimate and heartfelt. I'm sure a huge part of this passion came from the story behind Stargirl's existence and her inclusion, which undoubtedly drove him for a very long time to come even in future works.

Success can be a dangerous thing! Everything up until his Green Lantern's conclusion, though, was spot on...mostly. Though I have no idea what the state of the character is today, the introduction of Simon Baz was where the cracks started to show, feeling less like a story and representation he was actually passionate about telling and showing, and more like a shareholder corporate decision.

Hate to break it to you but we've known about him for a while now. A couple years ago his ex-wife wrote about her perspective of his abuse and misconduct towards actors under him while they were together and in the past couple of months some of the Buffy actors have come out with personal details.

It wasn't misconduct towards actors that she shared. It was something along the lines of him talking about how he was surrounded by young women all the time at work without doing anything about that to her or something weird like that, but she only talked about what happened between them.
