The trailer is a good idea of the movie but also does not do it justice. I rented Come True tonight on my cable box and well i was very pleasantly surprised. The acting was very good, and the soundtrack was super nice, ethereal and dreamy. Haven't felt this way.about a horror soundtrack since I watched It Follows a couple years back.

I would definitely give this movie a 9 rating. It felt good to find a new horror movie that does unique things and makes you think.

Also the ending i never expected and don't think anyone else will if you watch it. Makes you even further think about everything else in the rest of the film. Have any of you watched this movie? If not i give it a definite recommendation that no horror fan should skip

As far as i can tell its not listed on netflix or hulu for streaming. Amazon has it for rent, don't know if that is free for prime members, i am not one and don't know how the service for movies works. Its also for rent on google. I think it had only a limited theatre release, then ended up going to video on demand platforms for rental

I'll probably wait until I can find it for free. If it gets covered as a Kill Count (channel Dead Meat), I might have enough incentive to pay for it. Their last half dozen videos or so have been movies I have't seen and can't find and I don't want to spoil myself so I'm kinda itching for a video I can actually watch >_>

@CanuckCowboy yes definitely a 9. I went back today and watched it again since i have the rental for 48 hours. And i seen a few new things i didn't see the first time yet i still am very confused about a lot of the story. Though i like that type of movie that makes you think instead of hand feeding you everything.

@Chewtarch sorry i can't really spoil that for you. Honestly i don't even know how to answer the question. As i mentioned the story makes you think a lot, and the ending makes you think even more. Its not a film which is simply black and white like most horror movies are. Most horror don't have anything new to show, if you been a horror fan for a long time you'd understand. But Come True is unique i feel.

@Machete what do you mean by a kill count? Like horror movies that have a bunch of murdering and deaths?

There's a YouTube channel called dead meat that has a series called the kill count. Its pretty good.

I very rarely hear anyone praise a horror this highly. Definitely gonna watch it when I get a chance.

Youtube series tallying horror movie kills (also does shows once in a while like stranger things or non-horror but horroresque movies like Jurrassic franchise). Kill Count is the name of the youtube series itself, and Dead Meat is the name of the channel (there are other too with similar videos but I haven't watched those).

Haven't seen the movie and haven't noticed it anywhere to watch. I remember thinking it looked good in the trailers so I will watch it when I can find it.

Its different from most movies I've seen. Like its definitely a horror / slasher but its more of a comedy / I'm not sure what.

@CanuckCowboy i just went to the channel and watched a little of one of their movies. And well Come True isn't the type of film you want to watch someone explaining all the details and scenes to you. The videos they make seem to cover all aspects of the film reviewed, and Come True is best to watch without anything spoiled. Even the person who edited the trailer i posted did a good job of not spoiling things.

Did you ever watch It Follows? Come True has one of the better soundtracks since that movie was out a few years ago. I give this movie such high praise because so many horror films are mediocre and dont do anything special with the story.

A lot of them are straight forward too without needing much brain power when viewing. Come True will make you think, and the ending will make you think more and examine everything before it.

Yep. It follows was one of the better horror movies I've seen too. I wouldn't put it with the all-time greats but it was exceptionally good.

I definitely need to see this. Probly won't watch tonight but within the next few days.

@CanuckCowboy I'm glad you agree about it follows being a great horror movie. It also was one of the better horror movies i seen in a couple years. I definitely put Come True on that level. So yeah if you or anyone else reading this watches the movie, either send me a PM after or go to the movies home media board and find my Come True spoilers discussion topic and post there. No one has replied in it yet though. But yeah i wanna discuss the story and try to understand things better

I wasn't really a fan of It Follows. The visuals were great, from the stalking nature to the the invisibly throwing people around. I didn't really understand the pool thing and the body count was too low for my taste. That opening scene was quite potent though. I think it may have actually done the movie a disservice for me because I was like "oh shit O_O" and hyped myself to assume it would be like that all the way through.

Also, in regard to the kill count videos, it is definitely better to watch the movies first. I rarely watch kill counts for movies I haven't seen, and he has a disclaimer recommending not spoiling yourself. I like it because I'm a stickler for numbers and things can get convoluted in horror when some characters survive when you're led to believe they died and others die off screen but it's up in the air for a while, plus the mass kill "how many fucking people actually died just then? O_O" scenes. There are always things to miss and he catches them and explains them. Thebehind the scenes stuff is great too. I especially enjoy all the commentary on the Final Destination franchise, which I was absolutely thrilled when he finally covered it. I had been requesting it in comments for over a year before it finally happened lol. He has pretty good taste for best/lamest kills too, amd I love the random references he points out, especially in regard to other roles actors have had.

The only big flaw I saw in it follows was they shoot it and that doesn't work so they do the big pool plan and that fails so they shoot it and... it works?

I saw it once a long time ago so maybe I'm forgetting or missing something but thats how I remember it anyways. I should rewatch that tbh. Regardless its one of the best modern horrors imo.

@Machete i can understand your liking of high kill counts in movies, i used to be into a lot of gore and murders movies. But over the last few years i kinda changed to liking more psychological horror instead of just killings. Maybe I'll go to dead meat channel and see if any movies he covering i have seen. A few psychological horror movies I've watched a while ago are Starry Eyes, Hereditary and Oculus.

Whatever you do though, don't read the ending of Come True, the movie has nearly 90% fresh on rottentomatoes, some critics loved everything but complained about the ending. So i went into the film dreading a poor ending after everything else was great, but i completely feel opposite of the critics who did complain. The ending made everything else even more deep than it already was on the surface.

@CanuckCowboy for it follows ending.. I think the monster being took shape of Jay's father in the very end. And although it seemed like they were able to kill It with a head gunshot. I feel that the It had simply fallen back and left the area, making them think they killed It and that everything was over. Also the ending leaves it open to interpretation as you see Jay and the boyfriend walking down the street and in the background a person is following them. Not saying if that was simply a regular person or if It wanted more from Jay.

Oh man I remember that last scene. I actually almost got goosebumps. Lol.

Good point that actually was a good ending. Now that you refreshed my memory the ending does imply it didn't work imo

Yeah the pool thing really lost me, and considering how potent the invisible enemy was in the opening and how we didn't get to see what went down, only the aftermath, I felt like it kinda lost its efficacy. I was also pretty wasted and tired when I watched it so that probably has some effect on my perception of it. Again though, there are plenty of thins it did really well, and I didn't even remember most of them, but I give it credit for them in retrospect.

Of those 3 movies you mentioned, tc, I've only seen Hereditary. I liked it. I actually have a better understanding of it after watching the kill count. It explained some things I didn't initially pick up on. I had Charlie spoiled for me but those scenes were still hard hitting. The actress from The Leftovers was awesome as usual. I knew she was trouble. I never trusted her character lol. Toni Collette is great in most of her roles. Gabriel Byrne was kinda understated but his character was meant to be, so it worked. It was also an interesting setting. I always like trying to figure out where movies take place if it isn't advertised. I kept jumping back and forth between pacific nw and rockies between their house and the road scenes. I would have guessed Idaho but apparently it was Utah, so I was close lol. Never did get a good license plate view >_>

@CapnMuffin yeah no problem. I am always trying to help out fellow horror movie fans in finding the higher tier great ones. Because i know i been watching horror movies since i was 10 years old and now I'm in my 30s. So about 25 years of horror. And well yeah there's been many mediocre or duds in horror, so when i find one thats unique and special i try to pass it on.

@Machete that's cool you try to figure out where a horror movie is filmed if it doesn't mention. I didn't really think about that much for most movies I've watched. Maybe when you watch Come True you can challenge yourself to figuring out the locations. I don't think it was mentioned at least. By the way i just sent a email to deadmeat movie requests, telling them about come true and asking if they can cover it sometimes as maybe it will help me understand more of the story. They maybe get a bunch of requests but hey its worth a shot.

@CanuckCowboy yeah those kinds of endings are my favorite actually in movies. Such as a movie which isn't horror, Inception, made me think a lot and had a smart final scene. Straight forward films can be good too but the one's that make you use your brain and want to understand better are best i feel

By the way as i said make sure none of you read the ending. It should experienced fresh. Its also one which i doubt most people will ever guess to happen
