You don't need to post bullshit to have more evolved views. I'm super unlucky and was not born into wealth at all - anyone can go to college for a good major with grants and scholarships and low-interest loans. How is that not putting someone ahead?

And how are you not getting ahead at a super rapid pace with your Dr. pay now that you're debt free and can rapidly build up assets?

It's all repeatable for almost anyone. There obviously are cases where this is impossible for some - for those we should have strong modern safety nets like free college and free healthcare and UBI. But to just straight up lie about the nature of getting ahead in what is the most blessed and peaceful time we've ever lived in (covid and China saber rattling included) just makes it seem like you're trying to virtue signal to garner points with the lowest denominator users on this board who will never care about your more evolved views regardless.

Treat it like a compliment, TC. If I spend valuable time, its because I consider it important enough to do so.

I value the input of people who disagree with me, and frequently change my mind if someone presents a better, more rational argument. In all fairness to what I originally said, it was more subjective than most of what I talk about. I suppose it stemmed mostly from my disappointment at achieving what I spent 30 years of my life trying to do, only to realize that there is a sort of ceiling to success, and the kinds of things certain people (CEOs for example) do to others in order to break through that ceiling makes you wonder what the point of all of this is, anyway.

Watching as Republicans subjugated minorities, laughed in the face of hundreds of thousands of people dying, sat back as the president deliberately instigated insurrection, all to keep that one foothold on power and money that they hold so dear. I don't know how depraved one would have to be to think that's worth it. No trip on a yacht, no fancy meal, no elaborate vacation is worth the suffering of others. And maybe that philosophy extends all the way down to merely the regular wealthy.

im 29 but because of a near death experience a year ago have completely changed my outlook on age

people are young even into their 40s and 50s and beyond if you take care of yourself

best dudes I ever talked to for example, in terms of net worth, were in their 40s and 50s

at 30 you are barely getting started. And at your rate if you maintain momentum the way you did with your student loans, youll be a millionaire within 5 years and a multimillionaire within 10

by the time you retire in old age youll be stacked and can do whatever you want and improve lives for many people

CEOs are not the problem, its the billionaire class that is the problem. But for you, you can definitely get to at LEAST $10-$20 million adjusted for inflation before you retire

it does not. The amount of wealth required to be part of that problem is $50 million at the least, and more like $100 million or even $1 billion these days.

we need to heavily tax the ultra rich and the billionaires and force more ownership of those companies into employee hands by giving that stock to employees rather than letting Bezos retain the lions share of it. Etc.

but no, regular people are even the people up to $50 million. That number may sound like a lot, but it isnt the kind of capital with which you can start shaping world events

Im of the view we should have a much heavier wealth tax than the 3% Elizabeth Warren wants. Imo 20 to 30 percent on anything above $10 billion

I don't have any excuses for my political beliefs before my change in philosophy, suffice it to say that the gop/conservative misinformation echo chamber is much larger, and more convincing than anyone can truly understand. Extracting myself from it and looking back, I have no excuses for the crazy things I believed. It's sort of like leaving a cult and looking back on it. like, the thing is is that the general media as a whole has a liberal slant to it

the largest conglomerates and networks and whatever else are all liberal in their presentation

so not only do you have to actively avoid that shit, but of your own volition seek out all of these "gop/conservative misinformation echo chambers" you're blaming to get away from it all

and it's like - it's just such a stupid excuse cause you knew damn well what you were doing the entire time

nobody just falls into that shit considering the effort they have to go through to find it at all to begin with

It's not even true. She has been gradually moving away from the rigbt throughout most of the trump years. I don't know where this "just a year ago" stuff is coming from. And the comment about having a dick is embarrassingly misguided, not just in a general sense but in context as well. Anyone who has shared her opinions over the past several years but with a penis would get the same treatment from me (can only speak for myself here though).

And as I remember, she didn't really talk about social issues in regard to her past conservative beliefs nearly as much as fiscal/economic issues, and didn't slurp trump so much as made both sides arguments and mild to moderate whataboutism. She stood out in that sense because most right wing posters here just troll, dogwhistle and regurgitate memes, buzzterms and talking points.

The arguably "worst" thing she said was a comment that appeared to have been made in haste that people dogpiled on (leading to her closing her coffeebeanz account). I don't recall what the event was exactly, but she admittedly didn't know much about it and said something ill-advised that people went rabid over, ignoring explanations she offered and dogpiled harder because "backpedaling" when she was like "okay so it looks like I was wrong, calm down" but they just went harder and that led to the closure. Normally I wouldn't dig that up, but anyone who might argue with me here probably will, so I'm pre-empting.
