Are you able to change/equip it's arm on the fly, or do I have to dock to swap between grapples n drills n whatnot?
You can do it on the fly.

So Im playing on the PS4 and I have the Cyclops (complete blueprint anyway) and Ive not even been to the Aurora yet. It reminds me just how different everyones play through can be. I can build a cyclops yet I cant make a laser cutter because these stupid shale outcroppings wont drop diamonds.

Subnautica is one of my favorite games of all time, but it does have some issues. Resource management is more cumbersome than it needs to be due to the limitations of storage lockers and having to memorize where you stashed all your shit. Far too much time is spent messing with menus, which is really a shame considering how beautiful the game is.

Subnautica would really benefit from some streamlining features. For example, being able to link fabricators to storage lockers would help immensely.

I'm hopeful that Below Zero addresses some of these issues (I'm going into it blind, so no spoilers).

Agreed about the storage. Would be nice if there was a master storage system.

I dont mind having to make additional lockers per se, but wish they were linked together

You only have to worry about starting fires. Use fast mode for limited intervals and you'll be alright.

Finally got that Cyclops. Still gotta get the depth mod to take it to where I wanna build a second base.

Also wanna get the Prawn before going past 900m. Are you able to change/equip it's arm on the fly, or do I have to dock to swap between grapples n drills n whatnot?

Yeah you can swap them without docking at a moon pool. You just gotta get out and access the upgrade modules.

I definitely agree on how annoying storage management can be. Luckily pc version has a mod where fabricators will pull from nearby storage lockers.

Oh fuck OH FUCK. Took Prawn to check out the lava zone for the first time. Forgot to bring a beacon to leave near the entrance. Some kyanite and scanned lifeforms later and I realize I'm fucking lost. Lost of aimless wandering and chasing holes above me that always turn out to be ceiling not loaded yet, and the I hear what sounds like an eruption. And again. And again. "Am I stepping on damaging ground or something? My health doesn't seem to-OH FUCK!" Sea Dragon. Of kourse, Sea Dragon. Was not supposed to go far enough in to meet him, but that's how lost I got. Welp. Might as well go down fighting. Lost a lotta heath scanning it, then grappling hooked it's arm and spent the next 5 minutes being dragged around rodeo style while tryna shove a drill up it's ass. And it actually worked. Now I've got even more incentive to survive, but I'm even more lost from being dragged around. I get out to change powercells AND A FUCKING SECOND ONE IS ATTACKING! I do NOT have any food/water to go for another round of this shit. Some grappling and a lucky rock formation later, and it's gone. "Fuck it" Youtube'd someone reaching the entrance and did my best to follow my kompass between North and North West. Fucking Warpers got a few hits off me, but I make it back to recognisable areas. Still gotta race to get back to base (practically Safe Shallows) before dying of thirst. Made with 8 points of heath left and water in the kritical. All for 25 Kyanite.

tl;dr Do Sea Dragons respawn?

Leviathans do not respawn, except for the void. Honestly if you were that far down maybe you should have just went for it and progressed the story. There is an easy way out if you progress the story to its final moments.

Don' Reapers respawn too every time you reload the game? Dunno if that description was for PC, konsol, or both, but there's one near the ship I swear I've killed before.

Interesting. Ah well. I've got more upgrades now and the Sub's here being charged by the heat, so I'm in a much better position to get things done, than before. Also piloting this big thing while seeing so little is not for me. Since there's no solar charging like the moth, Cyclops is staying in the lava zone.

That was my initial impression too, but the cameras actually give a good field of view once you get used to them.

dock to swap. cyclops is the prawn taxi.

IMO, the way to 'see' using the cyclops is get that goddamn thermal charger, and use the sonar ping continuously. the floodlights are worthless, the cameras only useful in shallowish water as a result, but the sonar is a full reveal of everything.

btw, not really discussed here much but the scanner room has a special mod that goes on YOU, that adds the things it scanned to your HUD so you can beeline right to them in the water. you pick one thing it found and it shows all within like 500m. super, super useful for finding rubies, silver, and diamonds.

this alone is why i put one in the jellyshroom cave. a refuel point by the cove tree is nice but the lost river isn't exactly a place you have to look very hard for the materials you need, they're all just there in plain sight.

Heres a difference I noticed on PS4. My scanner room in the Shallows is scanning and highlighting items in the Jellyshroom Cave. That never happened on PC. I build my base in the same spot every time. Whats more, my PS4 scanner range isnt even upgraded and its still scanning the cave, but my fully upgraded PC scanner room isnt.

Does hull reinforcement protect against hostile fauna, or just collision with terrain? I looked it up but some people say the former, and others the latter.

Hostile fauna actually ignores your base, you can have something right in the middle of the Dunes and the reapers will nicely wait for you to get out before attacking.

Lol my bad just noticed. It gives more defense for collisions only. Useful in the seamoth since you take a lot of damage from little fish collisions

Pretty much a wasted slot as far as the Prawn suit is concerned

You know what Im trying to decide, if you have the Prawn Suit sufficiently upgraded then can you just finish the game? I mean, no cyclops, no bases. You just drop all the way down and go for it. You load up your inventory with food and water and just go. As far as I can see, the only thing holding you back would be no fabricator. But you could solve that by having your surface base strategically placed.

Just realized you cant do this due to depth modules. You need to grab kanite and go back up to a fabricator and then go back down.
