My hero doesn't bug me too much since I actually know what they're saying. It's when they're like "Shiatsu wa kimi no uso." Like bro. You expect me to know what that is?

Tbh, it annoys me either way. Using the Japanese titles annoys me because it sounds pretentious, and using the English titles annoys me because most of the time they don't make any sense

I prefer it. Sometimes the English title is stupid (sometimes that's not the translation's fault, what are these titles Japan?)

recently I feel like I've been seeing a lot of cases where the english title kinda gives up and just starts with the abbreviation of the japanese title and then that's what most people end up calling it

I dont really talk about manga/anime irl, but I usually type BNHA if I do mention it. Thats just how I knew it as first. Personally it also sounds better to me even if I dont know why. I think Kimetsu no Yaiba sounds better than Demon Slayer as well, and if you just said Kimetsu its generally evident what youre talking about.

It's a mild inconvenience, but I can just look up the Japanese title on MyAnimeList and find the English title they're referring to with no problem.
kirbymuncher posted... recently I feel like I've been seeing a lot of cases where the english title kinda gives up and just starts with the abbreviation of the japanese title and then that's what most people end up calling it You can blame that on the trend of light novel titles cramming the entire synopsis of the series into the title because readers in Japan are too lazy to even pull a volume off the shelf and read the back cover. When we have ridiculous bullshit titles like "I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense", "My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!", "Suppose a Kid from the Last Dungeon Boonies moved to a starter town?" and "This Ultimate Next-Gen Full Dive RPG Is Even Shittier than Real Life!", then of course people will find shorter abbreviations to use instead. All of these are actual light novel titles of stories that got actual anime adaptations. --- "Someday I too will fly... and find you again!" https://imgur.com/urDb8LF ... Copied to Clipboard!

Depends on the title. Calling "My Hero Academia" "Boku no Hero Academia" is a little weird, but I'm not gonna throw a fit over it and I generally still know what the person is talking about.
I use Yuru/Laid-back Camp interchangeably. I default to Yuru because it's shorter. I also use Japanese titles if the English title is really long and because Japanese titles tend to have commonly understood four-or-less syllable shortened forms. I watched a podcast once where someone tried to "call out" out one of the hosts for using the Japanese names of Naruto games instead of their localized titles. Dude had been importing them way before the show was even being dubbed, so that was the name he knew them by and he genuinely didn't know a lot of the English names. ... Copied to Clipboard!
