Does anyone have a similar setup? my PC is not that far from my living room set so I could hookup a 10ft HDMI.

my TV is one of those LG UHD that can do up to 4k, but i think i'm going to plan on using 1080p resolution.

I bought a 2m long cable to hook up my pc to the tv so I could play basketball.

bad experience. Theres just something special and more immersive about sitting your ass in front of monitor instead of way back and watching it on tv

was the framerate bad or just the experience?

I did it for the longest time but eventually my laptop started to crash when it was hooked up to the tv (think it was overheating).

But yeah I have a 4k one as well and the resolution is really good on it, pretty much the easiest way for me to read anything now adays.

I highly recommend it if your comp can handle it.

Been doing it for 12 years, would never go back to using a monitor and desk setup.

You are limited to 60 FPS, but I don't really consider that a downside when you can play games on a 65" television.

I snagged a Steam Link when they discontinued them for $5.
With decent WiFi or a hardline/ethernet connection it's great. Especially since my TV and computer are in separate rooms.

My SO used a 55" TV as his computer monitor, both for games and for regular computer stuff.

I've kind of thought of doing that myself, using a 55" 4K TV (3840x2160) instead of my current two 27" 1080p monitors (3840x1080 total)

I can't imagine that.
I like sitting at a standard computer desk, and I just use dual 25" monitors that I switch between my rig I built and my work laptop with a kvm switch. Going to 32" or larger would be hell to me.

My laptop screen cracked recently and a quarter of the screen is broken, so I have to hook it up to the TV to use it properly.

This is what I do too. It's great really, comes in handy beyond gaming too, like for live stream concerts.

input lag and response time on tvs make it not a great option to use a tv as a monitor if you're doing any gaming

This. Monitors are designed to work with PCs, TVs aren't. Not that they won't, but you won't get as good results.
