My understanding of the trial is that the defense is basically saying that multiple variables significantly contributed to his death (CO2 from the car exhaust, that he was on drugs, ect...). As opposed to he was murdered by a police officer knelling on his neck for nine minutes.

I can't imagine CO from the car exhaust would have been an issue if his face weren't forcibly held so close to the exhaust pipe for nine minutes.

The thing is, even some democrats and liberals are that stupid. I had a friend that was both a liberal and wanted to join the police force. He argued that even though doctors stated that a person can be choking and still talk, since he has 8 years of college education on Criminal Justice(it took him 8 years to get his associates btw, it's not like he has a masters or anything) that he knew more than the doctors and that no way George Floyd was choked to death. He also said a bunch of dumbass things about how the American Justice system isn't corrupt, that it's just "nuanced", that everyone killed by the police were justified, etc...

Yeah, there's a reason why I'm not friends with that piece of shit. I actually used to look up to him when I was growing up(he is 4 years older than me) because he had a strong sense of justice before he was brain washed by the cops.(he's not even in yet, which is the stupid part)

I'm hearing the whole CO thing might actually result in a mistrial, because test results showed there was no CO poisoning but prosecution forgot to submit it into evidence or something

That said it's super depressing to read about this trial and realize how much the justice system is just designed to waste everybody's time.

So much completely unrelated bullshit is being explored, and it took a literal year to reach this point in the first place.

The justice system as it exists is reliant on the poors being forced into plea deals while the rich can delay any meaningful progress for years to evade consequences

The minimum sentence is 10 years still. Unless he gets completely off, he's at least looking at a decade in prison. Max is 70 years though
