Hence why there's an adjustment period in olympic guidelines.....

I'm not saying there isn't a solution, and that this isn't it, but I think pretending there's no advantage is silly, otherwise there wouldn't be any guidelines for it. Even after two years when most of the other advantages in regards to stamina go away, they're STILL stronger. Considering this is really about school age kids, one/two years is a lot longer amount of time.

Last I checked most kids wanted to still compete as the gender they were assigned by doctors at birth; they didn't have a problem with it and trans athletes in female sports didn't want to compete against other girls, though this was years ago. They just wanted to be the gender identity they were born as, they didn't want to turn this into some big thing that it didn't need to be. Texas and other dickhead states were blocking it and MAKING them compete against girls if they wanted to compete at all. I don't think we've heard near enough from trans athletes themselves, we just see the headlines of legislation like this.

Transitioning doesn't undo the years of growth you had as a male, no matter how many hormones you take. Someone who was an elite male athlete will dominate any women's sport. That's not really debatable.

But that isn't what's happening.

Advantage? Sure, there's a strength difference depending on time since transitioning/affirming, hormone therapy, etc. But transwomen aren't dominating over ciswomen.

I have a trans friend who is biologically male and has done nothing to alter her/their hormones or biology who attempts to compete in the women's league for ski running

In the men's league she is a solid mid packer, in the women's she is immediately top 20

She's my friend but I totally see why they won't let her in... She's a male in every way but her own mind

There's a one year waiting period from first beginning treatment for most sports including the olympics, and you have to have routine tests to make sure your testosterone is under like .05, even when normal range for women is .12-.07 or around there.

There are biological differences between males and females.

A 150 pound male will have more muscle mass than a 150 poind female. Same goes for bone density and other physical parameters that make real differences in sports, especially physical ones.

Let's not forget that bone density legitimately will differ between races. It's part of how forensic anthropology is even a thing. Germans, Russians, and people of african descent? They'll have bigger skeletons on average compared to asian people of the same height.

But hey, guess what else. The bone stuff originally came about being researched as part of literal race science during the era of american slavery. "They're built stronger because they're made for physical labor" for the body, but then they'd make up some explanation to say that all black people were less intelligent because of the shape of their skulls.

So the entire bone density bullshit is literally based off race science, among other things.
