It's seriously a shame literally nothing can be done about this issue

From mass shootings? Unfortunately I can't. As I said, nothing can be done.

I am much happier denying horrible things are happening in society than having to confront them so please just make it so I can no longer see your posts and don't have to endure being reminded that, yes, society is shit.

The American government is designed so that the party in charge cannot govern, because otherwise when the other party is in charge it would also govern (the horror).

And that's how you end up with a nation that's 50 years behind the rest of the developed world despite having a head start.

Yeah, at times it seems the only function of the two party system seems to be to keep the two party system in place. Not to actually improve governance or anything.

Can anyone prove that guns per capita is correlative with crime for a nominal number of countries around the world?

Or does the US uniquely have a gun boner?

It's cool to blame the tool but not the violent mindset or the society that teaches violence as a problem solving tool.

Amount of guns in circulation and relative ease of access to guns is definitely a big contributing factor. But there weren't many mass shootings like this in the 70s or 80s despite guns still being everywhere. Hell, kids even took guns to school for shooting practice lol. There's definitely a massive mental health crisis in the US

Why do people, on both sides of the issue like to focus so much on mass shootings? 2020 had very few "big profile" shootings that the news loves so much while still having the largest number of gun deaths recorded at 19,000 plus. More people will die over this holiday weekend with more perpetrators involved in any major city than the number of people who were killed in this Florida shooting, virtually guaranteed.

I'm not saying that it isn't important, but the lack of concern shown for the vastly larger number of spread out deaths compared to the ones the news makes headlines out of makes me wonder if the people mocking the thoughts and prayers crowd really care anymore than they do.

The gun situation in the US is very much an anomaly. There aren't really any comparable nations to look at with such lax rules.
