yeah but the rest of the soundtrack was still great. same with 3, reach and ODST. especially ODST, probably the best music in the entire series

2 is definitely getting there too

3, I still like but it's definitely weaker than the above I only remember like 3 levels worth of music + it has the best version of the main theme in the whole series.

Reach's Soundtrack is ok in comparison. It's either great, ok, or forgettable, and there are quite a few forgettable ones

I like Halo CE - but, like, the later games are just remixes of the first game.

Now, for Halo 2 this was ok 'cuz it's the first sequel and you need to do motiff callbacks.. that's just how game themes work, but halo 3 and 4 and reach and odst all

Hey, I always kind of liked that part.

At least somewhat because the intention is that you come running into this room where there's a massive battle already going on and you jump in and take down both sides with this epic nu-metal song playing in the background, and by the end of it you're probably the only one left standing.

But the way I always played that part of the game was that you sneak into the room and hide in one dark corner, and the two Covenant sides kill each other off while you listen to the song, so by the time it's done you come out and there's only one or two straggles left you need to finish off. Work smarter, not harder!

Also, it's probably worth noting that the song/part feels cheesier now because a lot of people have kind of turned on the entire genre by this point, but at the time it was a pretty cool song and most people would have loved it unironically.

Even aside from that, though, Halo 2 still has a ton of great songs. It sort of builds off the style of Halo 1 but adds a bit of experimentation and variation that leads to a couple songs that sound significantly different but still feel like they fit.

It's part of why I both both Halo 1 & 2 soundtracks years ago.
