Now, this could be because I'm in the middle of Canada and cannot get melons fresh typically, but fuck melon. Cantaloupe, Honeydew, however you melon? Straight up garbage most of the time.

Gimme some berries, some stone fruit, an apple or banana. Remember the Simpsons? Grapefruit nearly killed them all.



All are better than melon varieties 95% of the time.

Maybe it's an unpopular opinion, but I have to agree with the TC. I love watermelon, but all other melons taste disgusting too me. I feel like I'm eating pure syrup in fruit form.

Literally all melons are delicious but I can understand not liking them if youre getting bad ones. Watermelon is like unarguably the best fruit, and cantaloupe and honeydew are at least in the middle tier of fruits.

Nah man, the best watermelon doesn't match up to Strawberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, Bananas and apples! Maybe better than a pear though.

Watermelon is the only one I actually enjoy. But let's be honest, if you have to put salt on a fruit to make it great then it has issues. Meanwhile you can just grab any of the million kinds of apples and they're delicious as is.

Its common in the southern U.S. Salt masks bitterness so it brings out the sweetness of the watermelon. And activates your salivary glands making it seem juicier.

The right about of salt doesn't necessarily make things salty. It just affects your bitterness receptors (or something like that) which can make the other flavors pop.

however if i'm eating a mango, i def want some cayenne and lime juice to sprinkle on that bad boy. tajin is probably good on watermelon, but ehhhh i'm not that into watermelon.

Tbf I was well into my 20s before I tried it. My now wife introduced me to the concept. I thought it would be disgusting too but it's actually way better. Think of it like a margarita.

Also introduced me to mustard on a sloppy joe which is also delicious.

I could eat those all day long and not get bored or feel like nah Im not in the mood for something sweet

Not mushy, just...soft. Like in between an apple and an orange. Almost like the consistency of cantaloupe, but more fibrous. Pears seem to go bad really fast in my experience though, so it can be hard to find a perfect one.
