I think the confusion is that Im answering the topic title as literal as possible. Do people think that 1/6 is the darkest day? No, the general population doesnt. No, its not going to go down in history books.

Now if TC is just asking like what is our opinion, then yes. The level of corruption and negligence from a US President should be a massive deal. It should be in history books but it wont. I said that earlier.

I was disgusted by what happened on 1/6 but on 9/11 we had planes being rammed into the tallest skyscrapers in America, which then collapsed killing untold thousands in the middle of New York city while the pentagon got hit, and then another plane went down. The biggest city in America was covered in smoke and ash and the US was raging ready to go to war...... and we did go to war. For decades.

This happened in an era when the US felt like we were on top of the world and the biggest thing in the news was Britney Spears and random bullshit.

Really this entire period between 2016-2020ish will be studied with immense scrutiny, particularly as we get some distance from it and people start to feel liberated to assess it honestly.

I agree that from a perspective of political norms and mob rule in politics 1/6 was incredibly disturbing but exactly one person died violently in the whole riot. Maybe we will look back and say 'this is where it started' in a dark way but as of now I can't look at it and think that it was comparable to 9/11 or even a lot of mass shootings.

People remember where they were when they found out about 9/11 to this day, everybody who was alive then remembers. It drastically changed the world and country for years afterwards.

Nobody is going to think back of the traumatic experience of finding out about 1/6. Its not even on the same level. Its just crazy to compare them at all.

Apparently he never watched any of the footage of people literally chanting HANG MIKE PENCE! Or the footage of Michael Fanone pleading for his life as the mob was trying to kill him.
