They even have a photo of the car, the model, and the location. These were the people who shot and killed a 6-year-old boy in a road rage incident two weeks ago. It shouldn't be that hard to track them down, and yet the police are taking forever to find them? At this point, has the trail gone cold and they're going to get away with the murder?

The police aren't good at solving crimes. In many major cities, the majority of murders go unsolved.

Your statement would be factually incorrect. Homicide is the number one most solved clearance by police. With a 62 percent rate.

that being said dude, it takes time

Did I say across the US, or in many major cities? For example, Chicago:

the statistics takes an overall across the country. So this would apply towards the police. Some major cities bring the number down and surprise surprise theyre the most violent cities in the world, of course theres issues

and your first link even says how 2020 was a slight dip from improving numbers lol

whiiiich

The drop from 50.3% solved in 2019 to 44.5% this year comes after three years of improvement. But the reversal is also happening at an unprecedented moment, with violence spiking across the country in the wake of both the pandemic and national protests over policing, leaving experts predicting other cities will see dips in clearance rates as well.

makes perfect sense lol

If they needed three years to improve to 50.3%, buddy, they spent at least two of those below 50.

Wrong again! You couldn't possibly justify this claim with any sort of numbers. This isn't a courtroom dude, you can't just lie and expect people to believe you because you're a cop.

i'd imagine because the only actual info they have is the make and model of the car. white is a common color, so you're likely talking about a few hundred just in that general area. and since it happened on a freeway theres a good chance the shooter was from outside the area or even the state. then when you come up with campaigns like this the police get inundated with "leads" that take a lot of time to follow up on and often pan out to nothing.

The numbers you posted show that police clear (which can be different from solving) less than half of violent crimes and less than 20% of property crimes

I'm not sure solve rate is really as simple of a discussion as either party wants it to be here.

Like, there are going to be a certain number of crimes that are unsolvable. A certain number of crimes that while have evidence pointing in a direction don't have enough for a DA to prosecute, etc.

The average solve rate across the country is a better indicator, and you would expect to see bounded variance shift the numbers around as you subset, but major cities are morel likely to have more reliable estimates due to the higher rate of events.

However, crime literally differs from region to region, so besides noise and police performance, you need to think about that. Etc.

I think you two are just taking meaningless potshots at each other on a dead gaming message board and your time could be better served doing something more productive.
