It still hurts when you've made it to the final stretch of the game and the difficulty ramps up. Then you get frustrated when you're so close to the end, and you switch it to an easier setting just so you can see the ending and be done with it.

Cuphead has the worst easy mode of any game I've played.

Valkyrie Profile ironically gets easier the higher you set the difficulty.

Because it doesn't really explain how bad it is beforehand? I didn't put myself through it, because it was stupid and bad. I don't get what you're asking.

The real question is why they made it that way in the first place, which I guess is to punish people who wanted to play on easy by cutting out half the game for them.

I was being facetious, like a reversal of how a hard difficulty might be too much of a slog to be worth playing. But I understand that there isn't much to tell you that easy mode cuts a phase off of each boss and ends before the final boss sequence.

i tend to play through games on normal or easy. then, if i really enjoy the gameplay i'll make a serious attempt at the harder difficulties.

nowadays, a game has to earn my respect before i'll mold myself to its demands.

completing a game on easy absolutely counts as completing it. harder difficulties are just gravy. think about all of the roguelikes like spelunky and binding of isaac that have default endings, and you have to go out of your way to get to the bazillion levels after the "first" ending

Double Dragon II. But for just playing through the full game, that's a glaring exception.

Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection. Unfortunately, that was largely due to poor game design and not being challenging in the fun way (e.g. Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts).
