The vaccine isn't perfect, not everyone can take it and is less effective against variants

Variants which are created by the virus existing and exasperated by anti vaxxers.

By accepting people not taking it as okay because "Well some people bothered " guarantees that people will get sick and die and that variants will spread for no reason.

Comparing it to the cold expresses a large amount of ignorance too

and no, death number will never be zero, that is impossible in case its what you think we should be aiming for

But yeah, our cases are rising something terrible and the number of people SCREECHING about refusing to wear masks after the 19th anywhere and demanding shops stop asking them to do it is baffling. Our vaccination rates might be pretty good, but still plenty who aren't double vaxxed and are plenty who were and still got the variants.

Deaths are going to rise as more and more catch the new ones, it's just a matter of how many now.

there is a threshold where the shutdown of the economy is doing way more harm while saving a handful of lives on the short term is just going to end up costing way more lives on the mid/long run, not talking exclusively about mental illness here

youre trying to make it about me and my family but its much bigger than me and my family, so yeah anyway this is obviously a lose/lose situation regardless of the direction we take, the idea is to limit those losses and theres a delicate balance that governments around the world are trying to figure out each on their own

its not as simple as getting vaccinated, wearing masks and staying home forever

That being said, UK's and Europe's mistake is spreading out the rime between the first and second shot. A shorter time between shots would help a lot.
