I stunk at WarCraft 3 and I think I am decent at Overwatch. So maybe WC3?

Never really played RTS, but aren't those games mostly just about APM?

They're completely different games, but playing at an elite level in a RTS is one of the hardest if not the hardest accomplishments in gaming imo

I played warcraft 3 for years and got pretty good at it. But a really good player would absolutely destroy me

It's definitly a necessity to have the dexterity to be able to perform a ton of APM to be good, but thats only part of it. You also need to know how to react to often rapidly changing circumstance on the fly. Which basically means you need to know every facet of the game in and out and be able to adaptively respond and change how you're playing accordingly.

Yeah APM is important but it isn't what wins you the game unless your opponent also has no clue how to play. It's called a strategy game for a reason.

Overwatch requires zero skill

Then why am I so bad at it?

I played Warcraft 3 at least as much as Overwatch (if not way more) and never got good at the game.

So I'd say Warcraft 3 requires more skill.

EDIT: Or maybe just a different kind of brain, I guess. WC3 is long-term strategy. OW is more short-term and even if something goes bad, your reflexes might keep you in the game.

RTS is ususally more 1 on 1 so it's somewhat of an unfair comparison. I'd say the skill ceiling is much higher for an RTS though. Like if they made an AI for Overwatch chances are it will beat the best human team. For an RTS, more unlikely.

they require you to have a vivid imagination because you have to visualize yourself having a good time because the games are trash

WC3 is unit based more than horde based if that makes any sense. A loss of a particular unit can turn the tide of an engagement. Throw heroes in the mix with snipes, aoes, buffs and debuffsits a lot of micro management fun. Rotating units during the fight to keep them topped off, etc. Played a TON of WC3 back in the day.
