And they're reinvesting some of the money back to their workers

i genuinely dont understand that well the reason why companies are so against WFH. i imagine its less costly, have to have fewer employees, no need to pay crazy amounts for a space in downtown for rent...

its because a manager of some kind makes these kinds of decisions and their uselessness is on full display in a wfh environment

Like this bullshit in the original post is managers having nothing to do now they gonna make these poor employees get on a plane for meetups so they can get their power trip fix

@metralo I mean, this assumes a business can just straight up say okay lets rent a smaller / no space now and have everyone work from home. Maybe that would work for smaller businesses, but may be harder to implement for larger businesses. Like my company owns its own building. It cant just be like everyone work from home now! It wouldnt really save on rent or anything.

so this notion of saving on rent is a bit simplistic. Maybe that could be the case for some, but not always.

My gf and her coworkers (state government agency) recently returned to the office on a hybrid schedule that everyone expects to revert to fulltime office work soon. Not a single one of the staff, senior, and supervisor level employees is happy about giving up WFH. Literally zero of them. It's a decision being forced down by the highest levels of management despite overwhelming employee feedback against it.

Yup. Basically boils down to the douchebag micromanagers not getting to run their workplaces like little baby monarchs.
