Poll of the Day > So i got a interview for a slight promotion

I say slight cause the pay increase is so tiny it doesnt make the promotion worth it. But its a good stepping stone to a promotion thats better.

Basically its to be a trainer of new hires. Tad nervous cause its one of those inteeviews where they ask scenario based questions and of course you have no clue what the questions are gonna be

Just take your time and think through your answers. I know that can be hard with a handful of people staring and waiting expectantly, but as long as you don't take forever you're fine.

Lol walmart didnt hire me cause I took to long. They legit told me that. Shouldnt be as bad now as I got expierence it was the same style interview for the entry level position just these will be harder questions

That's how they do it. Its said in my line of work it takes 2-5 years to truly know the job. Thats because some scenarios that can come up can be rare. They are gonna give me scenarios that could happen at work and ask how id handle it.

Also supervisors dont see everything we do a lot of problems we handle and they never hear about it.

But yes the interview itself has to come under your shifts officer in charge's recommendation. And apparently mine has been "singing my praises" according to a guy on the interview board that tipped my mother off I was gonna be getting the interview (they are friends sorta kinda)

No I took too long to answer the question. I had no retail expierence back then and I know "ask a manager" wasnt the answer they where looking for but its what I had done at the few jobs I had before if I didnt know what to do.

To be fair my job barely changes. I'll just have rookies with me and I'll be expected to talk to them and explain how things work. Then show them how to do the job by doing my job like I already do. Then the nice part comes in I start making them do my job for me so I can critique how they do it and correct them as needed.

Plus having a rookie by my side will slightly deter inmates from being aggressive cause they may be a rookie but 2 officers is still better odds than 1

That and other criteria like we have a guy who's a damn good officer but hes blown the interview twice and I bet its cause he has a tendency of his mind going blank if you put him on the spot plus it's like he has negative charisma. Everything about him screams he dowant care about anything.

Lie how? I'm given a scenario and ask how would I handle it. Without knowing what a proper way to handle it it can difficult for me to instantly have a answer. My advantage this time is I actually have 2 years experience at this job. With walmart I had zero retail period

And I didn't know what would have been a good answer. They never told me my answers where bad. Just I took too long to give it guess that made them think i wasnt quick on my feet. My issue was its fucking walmart of all places. They dont really have a right to be picky.
