Well when I lived in England when she was alive she was an amazing women. she did things at the time that most people on her level didn't do. She visited aids clinics and hugged and touched the patients without extra protection, mind you this was when little was known about aids, she went to war torn Africa and interacted with locals on a very personal level. A lot of people saw her as the the peoples princess including my mother and they have a special place in their hearts for her especially given all the hardships she went through with he treatment from the rest of the monarchy and that cheating bastard prince Charles. He always made it clear from the start that he never wanted to marry Diana but he wasn't allow to marry Camilla whom he is married to now because she was divorced and controversial at the time which was not acceptable to the monarchy at the time. So he "settled" for Diana but treated her like shit the whole time, but she took it and suffered through the cheating and emotional abuse for a very long time because it was the "proper" thing for her to do. It is a very sad but amazing story that you should really look into. She was an amazing women, that's why people still love her to this day.

Not quite, the family didn't like Camilla and steered her toward her first husband, Charles continued the affair after she married, and then again continued it after he married.

If it is any consolation, when Liz finally kicks it, although Charles will automatically become King Regent, he will not be granted a coronation because 1] of his own divorce and 2] the fact he married a divorcee; the church will balk at a coronation, and even a strong, competent, conservative government will not be able to win the public support necessary to overrule the church. He will be forced to abdicate, and William will be coronated.

You have to remember that way back when, some old virgin who said he talked to god, said god told him that this one family gets to rule over everyone else, for the rest of time; the peasants, not wanting their village to be burned to the ground, collectively decided the men on the horses with sharp objects and shiny shirts who were telling them all this, were very convincing in their arguments. Over time it became the norm and because no one knew any other system of government, it was impossible to imagine a world without monarchs.

It's like how we are currently in the late stages of capitalism but the oppressed and downtrodden consistently vote against their own interests because they cannot imagine a world where capitalism is no longer the driving force in our lives.

She was also a fashion and style icon, and an idol for women who wanted what she had, the fairy tale life of a princess.

And then when the dirty laundry became public, she became an icon of the strong independent women standing up to the powerful and privileged.

And then her tragic death at such a young age, and the speculation it was ordered by someone at the palace. The car that caused the crash was briefly found, and then quickly destroyed, the driver was never identified.

The prime minister and the parliament does everything, and they just live in luxury for no reason at all. They should've been voted out and replaced with a proper president dozens of years ago, but you people love your traditions for some stupidass reason, I guess.

True. Although Diana still has conspiracy theories around her,but they have a hard a sticking because it is a bit hard to believe the queen would assassinate her daughter in law, compared to an amorphous government agency with very little oversight killing the president.

Regardless, both have conspiracy theories because the thought of a powerful person dieing so young from essentially randomness is a bit scary. It is far more palatable to believe that there is some agency at work behind everything. Chaos is too horrifying compared to lawful evil I guess

Well as said there is the video footage too of his assassination so that gives conspiracy nutjobs something to examine and nitpick. If he had been killed off camera it would be less discussed today.

One is what say the Netherlands, UK, France and Germany call something like First Minister or Chancellor, the head of the Cabinet that also has to represent their party interests as leader. The other is in the Netherlands and the UK a Monarch and in France and Germany a President, a head of state that is less coloured by party politics and can be more of a spiritual leader to a country.

The US combining it in one position, is usually not that terrible, but reached extremes when Trump was President.

I mainly meant that only having one head of state, can be problematic and the way Trump's reign divided the populace really shows the extremes.

The system being terrible from a political point of view is an entirely different discussion.

But that's because people outside of the palace don't understand how a potential marriage between Diana and another man could be a threat to the House of Windsor. It's archaic and convoluted, but you can believe the moustaches at the palace all breathed a sigh of relief when she died before she could have another child. Though, even if the order did come from the palace I doubt it was a member of the family, more likely one of the moustaches seeking to protect the continuity of the House of Windsor.
