Why is Flamethrower when Fire Blast has 100% accuracy? In Pokemon you can usually choose to use 100% accurate moves or not. Fire Blast only has five uses. If an enemy actually uses an attack like sand attack or causes a sandstorm, now there should be risk because someone actually implemented purposely strategy. Missing should be an intentional mechanic. Not an innate one. marthsheretoo posted... Nah, the tradeoff between a stronger, less accurate attack and a weaker attack that's guaranteed to hit makes good tension/decision points. No it doesnt, imo. In Fire Emblem, I pretty much ONLY use iron weapons in the hardest difficulty because they are the only ones that wont miss. Theres no tension at all. Its just the game forcing you to use a specific tool instead. s0nicfan posted... Missing is fine as long as it's positional. So you can pretty much guarantee a 100% hit rate if you hit them from behind, but that means exposing your own back to the enemy. Or characters with shields get a higher miss rate if you decide to stand in front of them and attack directly at their shield. See, this is great to me. You should have to create the scenario in which you can dodge/miss. Not just have it be happening for no reason. [LFAQs-redacted-quote] I am. Its games. Youre cherry picking. Status effects. In almost every game their in. Most of the time it's poorly balanced at best, or completely underpowered or treated as a afterthought at worst. Why slowly poison a enemy to death when I could one shot them all with a atk, or spell?
Then there's the elemental weakness mechanic. Again most of the time it's poorly balanced and usually a clutch for devs to try and add complexity to their combat system where there is none. --- 3DS FC:3368-5403-9633 Name: Kaizer PSN: Blackkaizer ... Copied to Clipboard!

XP and leveling in 90% of video games that arent strictly turn based RPGs Its fine as long as they dont make it grindy and its simply locking off abilities or something. Like you should naturally unlock everything before the end of the game for example but you have the choice to grind to become more op earlier. I dont like grinding even in rpgs. XP and leveling in 90% of video games that arent strictly turn based RPGs Even in turn-based RPGs, this needs to basically be a way to tie learning abilities to game progression rather than anything that remotely favors grinding. e.g. If it is easy to overlevel in your game without putting in a ton of effort to do so, you have horribly, horribly failed in your design. You either need an incredibly sharp exp curve or (usually easier to do) something like a 90% or 99% exp penalty applied once you're approaching overleveled. Systems that let you lower your level are okay but annoyingly fiddly because they tend to be accompanied by overleveling again at an rapid rate. I absolutely hate it when games have an interesting battle system that completely ruins itself because the player outlevels any challenge in the first few hours of the game simply because they don't run from every random fight. --- "That is why war is so tragic. Bullet sponges. They arent fun. I second this. I don't like the concept of enemies doing more damage while you do less damage to them. I would like to do the same amount of damage they're able to do. It makes it a bit more fun to me that way. I am still at a disadvantage since I wouldn't be overpowered at the beginning of the game until I get far enough into the game to be overpowered. Its not the only negative aspect though. Shit that you should have at the start of the game gets locked behind it (Ghost of Tsushima), constant menuing for near-negligible upgrades takes you out of the experience (Control), often forces you to go out of you way to search and slow the pace of the game to a halt for upgrades (GoW 2018), and it just generally is a huge timewaster tacked into games that would otherwise have perfectly solid gameplay loops without this artificial lengthening So you think your character should start off end game strong and have no progression? That honestly sounds sucky to me. And you calling it a timewaster. Yes thats what the grinding aspect adds I find negative. I didnt have this problem in 2 of the games you mentioned. Never played control. But I guess cause I enjoyed the side content enough I "leveled up" naturally enough i didnt need to grind --- Cid- "looks like that overgrown lobster just got served!"
