Perfect timeline universe is MGS3 but it plays like MGSV.

Not the mission thing, still the same game, just with the controls and environmental exploration of MGSV in the jungle.

I enjoyed the beginning area of MGSV
Mostly because it's the only part I've played

MGSV's pacing is bad, so not that.

I think the openness of MGSV was ultimately better for the game, but it's hard to even say the story was worse because of it or if it was just bad because it was bad. On the other hand the 1-3 are pretty much perfectly executed.

It's hard to answer because it fit into what they were trying to do in MGSV while I don't think it would fit as nicely into the much more storyfocused 1-3. Ultimately, there's probably a little bit too much to do in MGSV, but I don't mind too much since you can just not do it all if you don't want to.
