I wasn't kidding. The internet is quite literally bitching that it looks like "woke sjw shit" because a lot of people that clearly have never played Saints Row get triggered if you put women and minorities in your video games.

The people complaining either:
A. Wanted Stereotypical gangsters that fit their image of what a gangster is (nevermind that Dex wore a Visor.)
or
B. People who wanted the original cast back, not realizing there's really nowhere else to go with them as far as power level goes.

I'm honestly not even sure it's just that they want the stereotypical gangster types. I'm seeing a confusing amount of "Of course, the underdog minorities rising up against the "evil" white guy." That's why I'm confident most of the people complaining haven't actually played a Saints Row game prior to 4.

tbh I wouldn't have minded a reboot if they brought back some of the same characters, just with a reset to the storyline. It would have been cool, for example, if they rebooted with Johnny Gat and Shaundi still in play and we actually got to see Shaundi's character development instead of the jarring change between SR2 and SR3. Could've even made a game that would serve as a bridge between those two games.

The "wokeness" is only an issue if the game makes it a bigger deal than it is. One of the things I really enjoyed about SR1 and SR2 was that they had a diverse cast without calling attention to it. Everyone was equal and acted normally to one another. It was all about a single Human Race.

The gameplay video looks like SR3 all over again, but with a bit of SR2 thrown in. Still gonna wait for closer to launch. I'm not going to get hyped up the way I did for SR3 because I was let down so much by that game considering it didn't quite live up to my expectations, and I swiftly reverted to playing SR2 all the damn time. I'm hopeful that this turns out to be awesome - it takes a lot to blow me away nowadays.

Also remember: I'm the guy who still automatically sings along to "Take On Me" every time it comes on my car radio. Which is... a lot (since the start of July that's been at least nine times in my very limited amount of driving). Been a tradition since I picked SR3 up, hopped in my car, and that song immediately started up. MEMORIES...
