It was hard to go back to SR3 when they did the remaster, and SR4 was missing something (story progression). The less said about Agents of whatsit, the better. I wont lie, Ill probably get it unless they really pooped the bed.

I like the idea of a pseudo-remake of SR1, except the plot gets crashed by time travelling aliens trying to kill Playa before he/she becomes the Boss/President, and then the future Saints show up to a) keep you alive, and b) prepare Earth's defenses for Zinyak's arrival.

That depends on whether the devs will accept GTA comparisons. Main reason they changed so much was to avoid the endless "it's like GTA comparisons." Making something inspired by something else doesn't mean also wanting relentless comparisons to said inspiration.

I'd prefer something closer to SR3 than 2 or 4. Felt like that one struck the right balance between GTA clone and the wackiness SR brings.

Somewhere between 2 and 3 would be good too.

don't know exactly what I'd want, because SR4's superpowers were great, but they also made it entirely a different game that made things like the entire car customization systems obsolete (because just running became faster and more convenient than any vehicle in the game.

I don't know if there's a good way to mix the superhero stuff with the GTA stuff.

I think it peaked with 3, but 2s tone with modern execution could be good too. Basically anywhere on the spectrum between 2 and 3 will be worth getting excited about.

4 was still fun, but the superpower stuff just totally overshadows the GTA part. I want a game that gives me a reason to drive a car.

its been so long since GTA 5 that the world has room for a GTA. Watch Dogs is the only other thing I can think of thats doing the GTA thing at this point.

SR2 is still in my top 10 games ever because of how fucking fun it is. I'm also hopeful that a new game is more in tune with that than the barely replayable SR3 and SR4. SR2 did both wacky stuff and serious stuff well and that made for a brilliant game. (When's the SR2 remaster coming out? Perhaps they'll reveal that also?)

SR3 was a big letdown for me because I loved 2 so much that it was too much of a departure.

I think at some point you have to embrace the comparisons. Be the wacky cousin that lets you do crazy shit. SR2 worked because it was serious enough to make you care about the characters, but also crazy enough to be a bit wacky. For me, SR3 and SR4 didn't really have that. I didn't care when Gat died. But when Carlos died? I cared. Same with Alicia. And that's in spite of having more development. I do like a lot of the wacky weapons they have though. And even the super powers were pretty cool in 4 (though they made driving kind of pointless)

the progression from 1-4 was basically art. The way they amped it up game after game until you were a god at the end was incredible. I think 3 is the peak, and maybe 2 is the valley but together it's a good series.

I'd like to see a dialback of the zaniness to maybe 1 levels honestly. Bring us a foundation of a good game then build on it.

Yeah same here. The humor in SR3 was good at first, but it doesnt hold up on replays the same way the out of left field humor from 2 does.

Having not played any of the others, I loved SR4. Maybe it's because I skipped the GTA phase that introduced the series, but I found it way more enjoyable than any other GTA-type game I've played and can't imagine I would've enjoyed the others more.

The next Saint's row should feature Vampires, Werewolves and Witches. Or Cyborgs. Maybe and Cyborgs. Time Traveling Cyborgs. Maybe built by Ultor to try to regain control of their city. They go back in time to kill the boss before they become the boss. Needless to say it doesn't take.

Not wild about the graphical style or the apparent age of the cast, but in terms of character they look fine. But I may be biased because Nina seems like a pretty good match for how I always picture/customise the Boss anyway (well, if she dyed her hair bright purple).

Speaking of which, I hope we still have a customisable protagonist rather than an ensemble of characters to switch between. And that Laura Bailey is a voice option.

Theyve only given names to three characters, so I think its safe to assume there will still be a customisable boss.

Gameplay teaser watched, looks like GTA with some brighter colours and better lighting. Which is fine!

I think my ideal SR game would be a mix of SR2 and 3. I really like 3s characters and aesthetics, but the open world was kind of shallow and lifeless. Steelport doesnt feel like a city that people actually live in. I miss things from 2 like walking around in the mall and running into random stuff like the barbershop quartet.

the reboot trailer didnt get me hyped, but neither did it throw up any red flags
