Finland isn't real.

Are you from Finland?

Do you know Anyone from Finland?

Do you know anyone who's visited Finland?

Anyone who's from Finland is a fed, and anyone who claims to have visited Finland was tricked by the feds.

No, they actually provide housing from the get-go, and then offer social assistance with the afterwards.

As opposed to what most of the US does, where there's a bunch of guidelines one has to meet before even beginning to get into even shared housing.

Finland also has speeding tickets fines that are based on the person's income, making rich people pay over $100k for a ticket:

we didn't tho, we gave them a roof over their head and monthly spending money that they can use on drugs and alcohol, but they're still leeches whose existence contributes absolutely nothing to our society

Finland also deregulated renting market, resulting in skyrocketing prices that were subsidized so people would be able to afford it. Effectively it's a cash transfer directly from the government to the landlords.

First of all, it's absurd to think that they are all like that. Second, unless there is some hidden dark side to social programs like this, it is infinitely better than finding gross or dangerous homeless folks leaving piss, shit, or used needles on the streets. Or finding them lying around in bathrooms or something to stay warm. And you know, for the ones that aren't super gross or dangerous but just can't function, how is it better having them lie around on the streets instead of having a place to stay? For them or society?

The US solution--which consists primarily of leaving people to flounder on the streets with almost no available assistance or a way out, and don't you dare try and address any of the reasons why there seems to be a disturbing number of homeless in the Greatest Country on Earth--is horrible. It's bad for the homeless and it's bad for regular folks too. I have no idea how many homeless people are just down on their luck and could function with some help, but it certainly isn't zero. And even your so-called "leeches" are still people that are going to exist one way or another. It's safer for all parties concerned if they have a place to stay. And I'll bet a non-zero number of "leeches" might eventually change their ways if they have access to generous social programs.

If you disagree with all this, I'd like to know why.

they still do this, they loiter around the streets during the day and go to their shelter at night. i work in public transport and deal with these wet sacks of shit every single day

the programs don't rehabilitate, they enable, same as our prison system which just provides criminals a comfy place to network in. why work when you can do fuck all and have the rest of the populace pay you money for doing that?

this idea that all human life is precious and worth protecting is false, because 99.8% of these guys are scum. the ones that actually want to move up in life are offered the means to do so, but at much too high of a cost

What does it matter? The U.S has a GDP of 21 trillion, your country can afford to look after the homeless.

Finland probably also has higher taxes. Looks like 66k+ euro gets taxed at 30%, maybe we should start doing that here tbh. If you make 40k plus, lets raise your taxes from 22 to 30% and pay for homeless that way.
