Just got an Outlook meeting notification earlier today to attend a meeting from my senior manager with her, my supervisor and an executive who isn't in HR confirmed, but still. I was told to just take the meeting remotely at home, at the time I usually come to work.

So am I going to have to FedEx my work laptop to them or drive after?

Like why get notified the fucking weekend? Why couldn't I get pulled aside yesterday or just gone in on Monday and pulled aside. Why make me feel apprehensive the whole weekend?

once a month at the beginning of the month for the past 3 months I've been having a meeting with the senior manager and/or supervisor (the latter who doesn't like me) about my performance. I felt like I've been doing better than the last time I saw them. But I noticed I haven't been assigned to a lot of work the last 2 weeks as they were busy training new hires.

anyway, a few hrs ago after I accepted the meeting, I replied back asking if I was going to come in to work after the meeting. I wish I could have asked them if I could just come in tomorrow and drop off my laptop. why wait till Monday? it's cruel. I don't care about a severance package at this point.

my performance hasn't been great, but I feel that I have been doing better for the past month or two. Two things didn't happen though recently to me that required an investigation. it wasn't my fault though per se and it didn't impact the product. the second was for an assay that I have been doing great on, but two failed in a row. It's not completely my fault. there is some thawing issue.

but my supervisor hasn't been the greatest and gets mad for the smallest things. she hasn't been mad at me for the past 2-3 weeks though. I told my senior manager about 2 months ago I am going to see a doctor to check my mental health and get a diagnosis. HR contacted me two weeks later to help me get an accomodation. my Dr couldn't diagnosis me, and I was getting insurance issues, until I finally just got an appointment with a psychiatrist, one week from this Monday.

Yeah, you're fried, poor performance = fired, that happened to me a while back, floor manager called me into office told me they were firing me, made me sign a form saying i wasn't gonna come back and shoot up the place, had security right there watching me like a hawk as they led me to the lunch room to get my bag and get the fuck off the premises. Shit felt humiliating

I hate to say it but dont tell these jobs about anything like that. Youd think when youre struggling theyd be understanding but theyre not. Ive seen people going through really tough times let go with no empathy at all. All they care about is bottom line.

Hope it works out. Dont stress it. May not be what you think.

Oof, that's a rough one. And yeah, I get the mental health thing, but it's really not a good idea to tell that to an employer; better to ask for medical or general leave instead and only reveal what is legally required instead.

Two things to remember for mental health issues: your boss is neither your friend nor a safe confidant; and HR might say they handle all of those issues and ask you to come to them, but they work for the same company and will ultimately work for the company's interest, otherwise it'd be their job on the line as well.

Sorry if that sounds jaded, I've just learned through experience.

Nah that's not jaded at all. It's the truth. I worked at a place where the HR guy was literally known to report everything said to GM so no one would ever go to HR. Of course that's against the rules supposedly but no one above actually gave a shit

I feel weak and my head hurts since I hear the news yesterday. I don't wanna do anything. it's given me so much anxiety and fucked up my mental health.

My senior manager responded earlier this afternoon and said we'll about it during the meeting (question about me coming in later in the day after the meeting). She didn't confirm or deny. And she changed the meeting to 1.5 hrs early at 830 am.

Why the fuck did I respond back cheerfully and told her to enjoy her weekend?

Never. Ever do this to your employees folks. Like I wish I was pulled aside on Friday or even on Monday without notice. Or shit man, just straight up quit and return my shit over the weekend. and now I likely have to deal with hearing the formalities and signing over the paper l and then traveling to work to return my shit.

Yesterday I seriously fantasized of just coming early tomorrow and giving my stuff to my friend and avoiding the meeting together and just quitting then and there.

DON'T QUIT, you can't get unemployment that way.

Stay hopeful TC. I know that is way easier said then done. But at this point you should not think anything bad is going to happen.

They make you sign a form that you were informed that you were fired officially and that you can't get your severance package and/or eligibility unemployment benefits, if any until you return company property. Also can't share trade company secrets. I dunno about shooting up the place.

my confidence is already shot. Being fired and having to tell family (and friends that worked there, one who forwarded me the job) is humiliating enough as it is.. and having to interview and tell interviewers and getting people to vouch for me as a reference after.. I'm not even 6 months at the job.

I think we all do. but the thing is you need to find something that does not kill your soul. That is the key thing. You might earn a little less but if you are happy at the end of the day that is what matters . As long as your needs are met. Don't do something like become a beatnik .

What accomodations would you potentially need?

That's kind of why I asked the question I did. If TC HAS an issue they are attempting to save his job.

If TC just isn't good at his job or isn't a good fit for it this will lead to firing for sure.
