I just got the Varia Suit now and I'm stuck at the next boss. It surprised the heck out of me how long you go without a morph ball >_> It felt so weird not to have it for so long.

Beat it once, working on my second playthrough now. I enjoyed every moment of it. It rivals Super for me.

Just finished my first clear, total time was about 6:40. The later bosses are pretty hard.

Agreed, I did the same thing.

I was able to do some light sequence breaking by getting the Cross Bomb early using a tricky Morph Ball shinespark, but that upgrade isnt particularly useful in opening up further breaks as far as I know.

Love it. Near the end, have all EMMI's dealt with and am just doing cleanup right now. Unless the endgame just takes a massive shit on everything else, looking to be my second favorite 2D Metroid behind Super.

It's great, although I do have my (relatively small) gripes, like Adam's voice, the two-way teleporters/trams (instead of more seamless transitions), and the point of Ariana's I've quoted below.

Damn, that sucks (and doesn't bode well for sequence breaking). One of the best things in Super, Prime and Zero Mission was that any expansion gave you the ability.

Don't worry too much about that, plenty of sequence breaks have already been found, along with a way to walljump up single walls.

Hell, if you sequence break to get the bombs early, you can do a built-in quick kill on Kraid. They clearly intended sequence breaking in this game.

I wish it felt more like SM than fusion. But it's a damn good game. There was a moment at the end that made me want to put the game down out of spite, and I could have gone without the EMMI areas, even if the mechanic is kinda cool.

Beat the game 100% last night.

Still processing it in my mind but I loved playing it. The Aeon Flash is like my favorite ability in the game. It made bosses so much funner to fight.

The slide is also a great move for traversing the environment.

But yeah this game is hard. Some of those shine spark trials for missile expansions tested the limits of my reaction times in a long time lol.

Yeah its definitely needed/intended.

Def helps to have played previous games. I dont recall they explained in this one that you can shine spark in Morph Ball form, which is definitely needed for some expansions.

I think I have like 4 expansions left (85% in one zone, 96% in another) but Ive searched everywhere I can think of. I wish there was a way to clear icons off the map, it gets too cluttered.

Tbh I forgot you could shinespark diagonally, for some of these midair ones Ive been spin jumping up to it then morph-unmorphing in order to dash straight. It has probably made it way harder than it needed to be.

Feels really good. The gameplay is the most refined its ever been. I don't like how restrictive the exploration is. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just the lack of upgrades keeping you from exploring further, but story and environmental elements arbitrarily lock you out of places.

The spin boost/space jump has always been like this, theres a little bit of timing/rhythm to it. You press jump a little after the peak of the first jump.

as far as the controls, the only time I feel like it gets to be a bit much is with the Grapple Beam

The timing on the spin boost could stand to be a little more forgiving considering how fast some of the enemies move. Getting fucked by an EMMI cause you mistimed your boost in a panic feels very uncool.

Really enjoyed what little I've been able to play of it (I'm a little bit after the Kraid fight). Though I think I have to put it on the back burner for now since I only have a limited amount of time to beat Tales of Vesperia before it's taken off of GamePass.
