not that I really think it justifies fifty bucks, but it's an interesting take that could actually be used to make people more inclined to buy games they have the free DLC for

Like as bad as PS+ games have gotten outside of Collection, it still seems to be at a different level of sanity for the asking price.

like if they do keep up with putting DLC on here, then as someone who tends to buy DLC for the top Nintendo games this would cover its cost for me and justify the membership

that doesn't apply to most people though, and if it's an AC only thing then not even I can't justify keeping it beyond the first year.

... though I do also see the potential for this to encourage Nintendo to make more things into DLC, to give more "value" to the pass

N64 controller purchased

I already have the blue 6 button Genesis controller that came out with the Genesis mini and that's USB so it should work on Switch just fine

May grab an N64 controller for emulation but the price for the expansion pack is pretty laughable when Nintendo's online is already barely worth anything. Like others have said, maybe the value proposal will improve if the plan is to keep rolling other dlc in here.

More DLC or games make sense, but they haven't said anything about it, so I wouldn't expect even one a month, and one a year wouldn't give me much inclination to pay for it all year as a subscription.

Thats awful expensive to play some N64 games and have to put up with Nintendos inferior online experience

My NSO is up next month and I'm gonna buy the AC DLC, so I guess I might as well just bite the bullet and upgrade. I'll just hope that extra $5 I'm paying will eventually result in more DLC I'd have bought separately.

Emily Rogers explains that it's Sega licensing fees that are primarily to blame here. They wanted a lot of dough, especially in light of poor Wii-era VC sales.

Even speaking as someone who grew up on the Genesis before moving to PS1, I gotta say... I'd gladly grab a cheaper sub for just the 64 (and AC DLC lol). But I'm on a family plan, so shrug.

Serious question. Has this person ever been right on anything? Does anyone have any insight on what information she has been correct, or at the very least close to being correct?

I see this person brought up all the time for rumors and scoops....except pertaining to my limited knowledge or memory, they are never or rather very rarely correct on anything. I know she had a reputation of being very unreliable years ago.

It's just bizarre to me that they are still considered an insider.

Though on topic, I think this is initially worth it just because of the inclusion of the AC DLC, however if nothing else is added by the end of that first year outside of the additional games added the price becomes a big yikes.

then I don't know what happens if you make wall partitions or counters in your real home because it seemed like those are DLC features so what happens then with your main file actual house you put a wall partition in and then lose the DLC?

That is an insane price tag. Maybe it'll go on sale now like PS+ does? You can get a year of PS+ for $30 around the holidays; $25 for this wouldn't be bad.

Yeah it's integrated in a way (in AC) that it doesn't make sense to totally lose access to it, but it also seems like too good of a deal from Nintendo if there ends up being a bunch of DLC expansions included and you get to keep them all when you stop playing.

I think it's a fair price. Xbox and PS+ are 60, from what I can tell. The earlier models exist if you just want to play online, right?

not that I've looked into PC connectivity but yeah my NES controllers are on the tv stand right now and there's no port of any kind, they just slide into the joycon rails

that being said, I know there are ways to connect joycons through Bluetooth so the NES controllers may work the same -- just expect a bit of a hassle configuring them. Googling I see a github for Betterjoy which appears to offer the functionality for joycons themselves at the very least.
