Imo it's Shonen bubblegum, amazing best thing ever for a few episodes, then quickly loses it's flavor and is just a chore to chew through.

I managed to make it 2 seasons before I got bored, but enjoyed what I got through.

Keep watching it and see if you enjoy it. I personally have enjoyed it and watch it as it airs (it's currently on break). But I know some people think it sucks.

Already there are some creative powers here. A tree man, a fire hydrant man and a super-strong guy fighting a King Shark knockoff.

And holy shit a GIANT WOMAN. :o And of course she debuts showing off her ass with a bunch of guys ogling her lol.

Bakugo couldn't have shouted "I'm the arrogant rival character" any louder if he had neon lights.

If All Might is a hero, why is he drawn to look evil?

I'm expecting Deku's status as a "ha ha no quirk" to not last for much longer.

lmao All Might has a move called "Texas Smash." Guess he is supposed to be American. And he even swears in English!

Ending theme is pretty catchy.

So that's the first episode. Just basing it on this, I admit, there's a charming quality to this show. I've been watching a lot of dark/serious stuff lately so a silly little Japanese take on superheroes could be a fun change of pace. I've only seen pics of this show before so seeing it in motion, I do like the art style. I think I like it!

Does the quality start to drop off? Or is it mostly the same energy as ep 1 and you just got bored of that? Because I'm liking what I see so far and if it stays that way, I might keep up with it.

I think I did a good job avoiding spoilers for this show because I did NOT expect that for All Might's true form. Man I shoulda put spoiler warnings in the OP. Spoilers from this post onwards!

Aw, poor All Might. But he has good reason to not lie to Deku that quirkless can't be heroes.

Welp slime monster got loose. Of course with his green coloring, I just think "snot monster" when I look at him.

So how many people in the world have Quirks? Because if it's 80%, shouldn't a good portion of these bystanders have quirks as well? I know they may not be trained but you'd think they'd be able to do something. >_> Or should I assume everyone in a crowd shot is Quirk-less?

Man All Might looks freaking in his skinny form. Almost hard to look at lol

All Might's buff again and smashed that monster with the fist of DETROIT

I thought this would end with Deku getting his Quirk but I guess not. Is he actually gonna be a Quirk-less hero? Because this battle showed there's not much he can do lol.

And here is Bakugo being a dick, even tho Deku (sorta) saved him. Just once I'd like to see a rival character actually be a nice, friendly guy who doesn't have an abrasive personality.

So that's what Deku wanted his mom to say. Way to drop the ball there, mom.

Next episode looks like Deku does some One Punch Man training with All Might. Cool.

As for the bystanders, I think they touch on it a bit later, but even though 80% of the population is born with some sort of quirk/power, not all of it is useful enough to save people with. It's why people still work office and retail jobs. They have power, but it's too weak.

two things to add to this:

1. people generally aren't allowed to use their quirks unless they're heroes
2. it hasn't been explicitly confirmed in the manga (yet), but there's reason to believe that the quirks in Japan's general population might be weaker than those in other countries

So that's the secret of All Might's power and how Deku can get a Quirk. The music during this scene is actually pretty good. I wonder if it's on the OST. Skinny All Might still looks like a monster.

Man, the music during this Deku training scene is pretty dope. Didn't expect the show to have a good soundtrack.

Hey, it's ....Ochako, I think the name is? She gets paired with Deku a lot in the art I've seen of this show so she must be the main girl. Gravity is an interesting powerset so I can't wait to see more of her.

Because it's mostly a setup season, season 6 and 7 will be amazing. People are so impatient.

I adore this show TC, even with all it's shone tropes, it just hits all the right spots for me.

I used to like it. After season 3 I started reading through the manga. Watched season 4 and was disappointed with what they chose to end it on when they could have chosen a better cliffhanger that happened at the same time. In my reading I got up to (spoilers for either season 5 or maybe beyond since I didn't watch it) part way through the Meta Liberation Army Arc and lost interest.

Yeah, that's the problem with shonen, they just go on for too long hence why I stopped watching them in general. Just don't have the time to invest in them these days. But this one's concept intrigued me enough to give it a shot. Also the bunny girl.

Anyway, I watched ep 4 during my break. Not much to say about this one, it was kinda predictable. The next one seems to finally introduce the rest of the cast so it should be fun!

Because many anime go on break after 1 or 2 cours. So we consider it a new season when it returns. Pretty straightforward.

If it doesn't go on break, like One Piece or Naruto, then you have no choice but to differentiate by arcs rather than seasons.

I could see that, but they literally release batches of episodes and then go on about a year break just like real shows (that have seasons).

Or on the flip side, for people who watch it but dont read it differentiating by season makes more sense than by story arc. For any anime that Ive watched but not read I couldnt tell you what any of the arcs are called, but I could tell you what happened in each season.

Deku's an okay protag so far, not really breaking any new ground as far as shonen protags go, but I find myself more interested in the world around him than he himself at the moment.
