There was a stage of my life where I was more invested in HIMYM than my own personal life, desperately wanting Ted and Robin to end up together, and even I fucking hated the ending. I thought they did the "actually you don't end up with the girl you idealise, you end up with the right girl" so well, but then they had to do the "happily ever after" shit.

if they really wanted him to be with Robin they were better off having Ted get divorced.

instead they killed off a good character.

And people were excited about the Lizzie McGuire reboot so I'll just treat this as that. Hillary is a pretty bad actress and plays every character like Lizzie anyways.

she was a good character in general and everyone felt she was the perfect match for Ted.

so killing her off just so he can be with Robin in the end was fucking stupid.

Kinda both. The show built her up so much throughout the years.

Then the actress they finally got after 9 years, actually lived up to the hype/expectations. We wanted to see that happily ever after that we were promised now that we finally got to see who the mother was.

And then they fucked it all up

It's always a half-dozen or so middle-class pretty people who do nothing but hang out together and complain about how hard their lives are despite being a bunch of middle-class pretty people...
