There would seem to be all kinds of reasons to rig games in their favor. Especially if what I hear is right that pro sports teams get a lot of money from Las Vegas and sports gambling in general.
Think players get told to lay down and play bad on purpose by the mafia that controls sports gambling because of sports betting? I can imagine that Tom Brady was told to throw the game against Washington last Sunday because its damn near impossible to lose against a weak Washington team and Tampa was the favorite in the betting. thoughts? --- Pinoy Pride, 1988 - the day I die! ... Yes i think it is possible. Heck as a player you could bet on yourself losing via friends/family and throw the game for quick $. No one else involved.

For American Football, I think there is a heavy influence.
