FortuneCookie 12/22/21 11:08:44 AM #12:	Red Skull is the only one that I found entertaining as a character. I mostly haven't kept up on the films post-Civil War though. The MCU is very hero-centric. I'll give them credit. They are able to make entertaining movies with passable villains. Usually, the villain is the most entertaining character. But, for the most part, at least from what I've seen, the bad guys have been pretty meh. Even on old Red Skull, they dropped the ball. They played the fence where he's not a Nazi, he's Hydra. He hates Hitler but doesn't outright state whether he agrees with his anti-Semitic views. It leaves him in this unwanted lukewarm middle ground where you can't say he's a cool villain in a Darth Vader sort of way, but you also don't hate him with every fiber of your being because they don't state he's a Nazi. Since the dude who played him wasn't comfortable with the character being a Nazi, they should have just taken artistic liberty and made him anti-Nazi. <cite>FortuneCookie posted [p:961128073] in Who is the... The MCU is very hero-centric. I'll give them credit. They are able to make entertaining movies with passable villains. Usually, the villain is the most entertaining character. But, for the most part, at least from what I've seen, the bad guys have been pretty meh.

Even on old Red Skull, they dropped the ball. They played the fence where he's not a Nazi, he's Hydra. He hates Hitler but doesn't outright state whether he agrees with his anti-Semitic views. It leaves him in this unwanted lukewarm middle ground where you can't say he's a cool villain in a Darth Vader sort of way, but you also don't hate him with every fiber of your being because they don't state he's a Nazi.

Since the dude who played him wasn't comfortable with the character being a Nazi, they should have just taken artistic liberty and made him anti-Nazi.

He's basically a complete absence of character. His motivations and intentions don't hold up to any scrutiny whatsoever.

I genuinely think that the only reason people like him is because he was teased for so long. I feel like some people would buy into anybody if he was hyped up so gradually.
