I should have made this topic about video games that take place on Christmas...

I know of one other that I believe was worked on by Hideo Kojima waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the day, and that's pretty much it. Would be nice to play a thematic game.

Any suggestions PotD?

EDIT: For those wondering, the Kojima game I'm talking about is Snatcher. The Blade Runner of visual novels that takes place during Christmas.

I've played this game many times, and this is the only time that I've realized that it happens during Christmas. Wow. Lol

I guess that part (to me) wasn't important since the game itself is amazing.

I really enjoyed that game back in the day. It dealt with some cool concepts and the gameplay was really satisfying for an old game

I guess Shenmue also has little Christmas and New Years details if you play until that day of the calendar.

A comparison that makes no sense for any number of reasons, but mostly given that Die Hard is absurdly well-known while Parasite Eve is niche.

I mean Parasite Eve rocked.

But there is literally a few Die Hard games, which would probably be the die hard of video games. The shooters are the best.

Yakuza takes place at Christmas. Maybe new years? I played them all pretty well back to back so they're sort of a blur.

A multitude of reasons they can't be compared, and you chose popularity? Alright, I guess.

I may be misremembering both works, but I think there were quite a few superficial similarities.

I don't think I've ever heard or read a comment saying that Die Hard wouldn't work unless it was set on Christmas. Interesting thought.

I had so much fucking fun with the PS game. I traded my copy of Nuclear Strike for it.

Nah. You could change the time of year to anything else in Parasite Eve and it wouldnt change much. In order for Die Hard to make sense with an after hours party with both the president/ceo and regular workers attending a party and drinking, changing it to another celebration or time doesnt make sense anymore.

They could be celebrating anything. Very good quarterly sales? Other holidays and so on.

I'm playing through this for the first time now. It's one of those games that really nails the unsettling atmosphere. Probably helps that for some reason there are no pedestrians seen at all in NYC, during Christmas time no less.

It's great game. Caught me by surprise as a young lad. I had never experienced a JRPG with guns and 3D movement. Haven't played any of the sequels.

I hope you enjoy it, friend.

Man, that opening cinematic gave me chills the first time I witnessed it. The scene where the rat evolves is still etched into my brain, as well. Your cop buddy (who actually looks a bit like Powell from Die Hard lol) knocking out a reporter for you... Central Park, the top of the Statue of Liberty, the Chrysler Building (kind of like Nakatomi Tower)....

Ahhh, the nostalgia!

The Yakuza games happen to take place whenever they are released (in Japan). For most of the series, this happens to be Christmas time. Interestingly, 0, 3, and 4 take place around early spring time because they were released around February/March. And Like a Dragon takes place just after Christmas because it was released mid January.

Alright, I'll have to check out the Yakuza games, then!

I know it's a bit deep in the topic for most people to notice, but if anyone knows any games that take place during Halloween, please let me know! Only ones I know of are Costume Quest 1 and 2.
