Sure is a lot of hindsight posts in this topic. You do realize the cops were operating under the assumption the suspect was armed AND shots were fired, right?

Perhaps it's a horrifically bad idea that all it takes is a phone call to summon the police and get people killed by said police (deliberately or otherwise).

Like maybe police should update their strategy and response in real time as the situation evolves?

Cops needs to stop treating 911 calls as the Word of God. Many cases like this, the caller is wrong

And you just know that cop doesn't feel an ounce of guilt or regret either.

Now that I doubt. He will fight to keep his job sure but I'm sure he does feel terrible.

That's another difference between cops and CO'S. We shoot a inmate we do everything we can to get off on disability citing mental trauma of having to live with knowing we killed someone. And to my understanding the state is more than happy to give it to ya. Fortunately that's a rarity. Most inmates ain't dumb enough to try escaping through the fence these days.

I also wonder if people who call the cops in these situations exaggerate the details to ensure cops get there sooner. Saying a person has a gun, for example.

That makes too much sense. Better to just let them fire shots as soon as possible.

This situation didnt even require lethal force. But obviously they waste no time with their trigger fingers when the suspect is a mentally ill person of color. oink oink oink

I am glad someone said this. We are a first world country. We need to be prepared to handle the mentally ill in non lethal ways. We need to protect women from being pulverized with bicycle locks. These goals are not mutually exclusive.

Cop looked like he was just itching to shoot someone. He's literally pushing other cops out of the way to get there first. Like he thought he was rambo when he loaded his M16 rushing in like he's some sorta badass. Do cops really act like this in dangerous high risk situations? This could have all been avoided if he just acted more calm and showed a bit of restraint.

Fuck that idiot cop and any others who escalate situations and get people hurt or killed. If their egos weren't so massively overinflated, maybe they could learn to stand down when it's the superior choice instead of always pursuing the most violent course of action. Fucker should rot in prison.
