The idea that its who you know prevails still. They think Elon Musk will remember them and scoop them up on his buddy shuttle when he moves to Mars or whatever his scam is.

Also keep in mind that many Americans are taught that you are only successful when you are rich, or have some arbitrary thing checked off on some arbitrary checklist. So they look to these people and say that will be me someday.

except they dont realize that those people they idolize, cant exist if others become rich too. They have to destroy them, or they will become competition.

The American School System has done its job.
I am stunned at just how stupid some of my coworkers are when it comes to their own sense of self-worth.

We worship money.

Americans believe rich people got their wealth through hard work. Since hard work is a virtue, the rich are naturally good God-fearing people. If you are poor, it shows that you are lazy, and being lazy means you are a bad person only one step away from becoming a criminal (if you already aren't).

Is it little wonder that "Prosperity Gospel" is so popular in the United States?
