I think I'm clear on most of the details, but one thing I was thinking about was Sam's "revival" and the first voidout. So when babby Sam is shot, Amelie revives him and this is what opens the floodgates and lets all the BT's in (because she fucked with the laws of nature or whatever). This is well after the first voidout, though. The first voidout happened after a doctor was trying to deliver a 7 month old baby of a braindead woman and touched the umbilical cord. How? Am I wrong about Sam's revival being the start of the Death Stranding? How'd BT's get in before that?

I think the game was a bit vague about this yeah.

The way I interpreted it was that things were normal until that first voidout. That voidout lead to the Bridge Baby experiment which lead to Sam. Then Sam being resurrected caused the Death Stranding to really kick into gear and cause everyone who died to trigger voidouts and BTs.

Bridgette did also say that the apocalypse was inevitable. So I think she just sped it up when she resurrected Sam.

This seems to be the best way to look at it based on what other info I could find. One post I saw claimed that Bridget/Amelie's split is what actually started the Death Stranding, which weakened the threshold. That would explain the first voidout.
