you pick up powerups and mow down waves of monsters throwing themselves at you

it's not super deep but it's quick, fun, and brainless

I usually try to avoid impulse buys, but my interest is definitely piqued, and at that price there's little point in waiting for a sale. I think I might go for it.

Side note: Scale from 1 to 10, how bad of an idea would it be for me to take the plunge on Dyson Sphere Program while it's on sale this weekend?

0/10 it's so great

similar enough to other factory games, but different enough in that vertical space is a valuable commodity that allows incredible spaghetti

it just got a pretty good update that adds product stacking with certain buildings (so you can fit more stuff on belts, it's good before merging multiple lines together) and the equivalent of modules from factorio (you deliver goo to a production line and if a product is made of 100% goo'd stuff, it gains quantity or speed at the cost of energy consumption)

it's a bit slow until you unlock interstellar logistics allowing vessels to transport between planets, but you do start with the equivalent of a roboport (which half of the time i modded into factorio lol)

Got it and played it yesterday and today, just finished getting everything at around 9 hours of play. Think there will be more added later on.

Only 2 maps currently and if you finish them you can play in Hyper mode which is faster, gives better rewards (more gold higher luck) but does mean you end up maxing out pretty fast if you play that method.

Little tip is you can play with the +gold find initially and then once you have enough gold, just reset and use the gold from boosting that perk on all the other stuff (not to mention it makes everything cheaper as well). Also order you buy stuff makes a big diff, buy the expensive stuff first, then the cheap stuff to save a bit on over all price.

Fun game, but diff is a bit too easy currently, especially with garlic or the books that circle you (or both heh). Anything with that combination finishes it even on hyper easily. I like to get the magic missile one as well since it deals with bosses easily, but if your on the second map there are things you can push a boss back into (library in the middle etc) and just pound it to death fast with your rotating books.

any of the evolved weapons can essentially lead you to a win if you get it early enough, axe and cross are especially great

garlic eliminates weaker enemies from the game but gets useless at 20~ minutes so you have to rely on something else to carry you (which the bible can)

area + duplicator + birds is an absurd amount of damage too

Found garlic still worked even in the last few minutes on hyper, if you have the +area damage +area radius + damage boosts (along with the shop upgrades. It's especially great with portia's +30% area boost. If you can get bible as well that is amazing but just lightning + garlic with all the area upgrades deals with everything while you just stand there.

Combo'd birds are good as well, but never really found axe/cross to be all that by themselves.

Lightning is also great end game and I love the 30% AoE from that character (Favorite to play as). Don't need exp (just end up getting coins at the end anyway), damage is decent as well (first guy) along with extra missiles on other one (6th char? maybe 8th), but since I like AoE abilities so much and they rock so hard end game, the 30% AoE one is my favorite.

I actually aim for all AoE abilities if I can other then the missiles one (it gets pass through enemies), or the laser one (Forget it's name but passes through enmies and it is gotten after playing as one of the other chars). I tried a few other more direct damage attacks (daggers etc) but none work as well for taking out bosses, or didn't for me.

Seems interesting. Probably better to buy now at least since the early access games always go up in price after full release.

Ah, read a thread and it looks like garlic got an upgrade with the evolved form recently which is why it seemed so good to me, maybe it wasn't viable before that.

Daggers + gloves + bible though = game over (Even without bible evolution). You can get the cooldown upgrade for free from left in the library (and do so after filling all your other slots), which means you just need the extended duration accesory before that in order to have perma bible anyway.

The gloves make bible do more damage, so does spinach. I like to rock more projectiles as well, along with wand + reclutar.....but it's seriously over kill at that point. Wish there was more/higher diff area etc, and a reason to get more gold etc. Pretty much nothing left for me to do at this point till more content is added, but was certainly worth the price.

The problem with both evolved and unevolved garlic is that its damage stays terrible forever. It scales far more weakly than everything else naturally, and it can't benefit from the best offensive statistic in the game at all (more projectiles). It's very useful for a lot of specific annoying things in the early to mid game but you can accomplish basically the same thing with bible, which scales way better into lategame.

Also the extra knockback effect makes it basically unusable with magic want if you want to actually kill light bosses. Four magic wand hits when you have a garlic equipped will send bat bosses flying offscreen making it incredibly obnoxious if you're using magic wand as a boss killer.

It's been on my radar for a while (nearly since it launched, actually), and every time it goes on sale, I've debated losing myself in another Factorio. Now that it's on sale for more than usual (I think it got 20% off at Christmas, but before that it was only 10%), I'm sorely tempted.

I could also just play more Factorio, I suppose, but I like the look of Dyson a lot. I might just have to go for it.

Since you get free skills in the library (even if only one is useful) I pretty much never play the forest (well did, not playing anymore now).

In the library you don't have to worry about the knock back for any bosses since you can wedge em into corners etc, which kills them super fast, it's the best way to kill them anyway honestly, although if you go the dagger route you can just flat out directly obliterate em while they try to walk to you.

In fact dagger + bible + faster projectiles = win, nothing else matters and you can just wait till you get all 3, it doesn't even matter which char you start with because of that (since you can't get bible). Dagger char has faster projectile bonus I think (+30%?) and you start off with daggers so that would be an easy start I guess, but any of em work. I never entered the code for the 100% luck but lower stats char to try it out.

Garlic still works great with the above, but it's so not needed that it doesn't really matter. If you can Evolve both bible and dagger your pretty much done. Garlic is a GREAT option though with that combo for something you are not going to evolve (so is recountour). I really like lightning ring as well though.

Anyway none of it really matters till more content is added/higher difficulty or another map.

if you hit them enough at once with magic wand, they will have so much speed they zoom through the wall and take forever walking back in. this is mostly just a problem with that boss in the middle that's super light, but i've even done this to lamia bosses before

there are very few builds that don't work because everything is at the very least good, but are they getting you 7k-10k gold per run? more killing power leads to more levels leads to more gold, and gold is kinda the only actual measure of performance right now xd

Garlic is great for ignoring minions or early on when your skills are on cooldown for a while.
I like it as a bit of a saftey thing.
