Flashback tapes being a prime example. There's no reason to lock those for dying. Sure "death routes" were a thing but those led to whole other areas and remained unlocked once you got there, they weren't collectibles. The levels they unlock should be the challenge, not collecting the damn things themselves.

Then there's every level having a total of TWELVE gems! Ridiculous.

I can't imagine hating myself enough to try for 100%, much less 106%.

Perfect word for it and I hate that.

The devs went overboard with the level design and amount of crates for each level. The levels really should have been chopped in half or even thirds.

That was the common opinion I heard about this game and why I didn't buy it.

Normal routes were fine.

But yeah the collectibles and side content were just bad and the wrong direction to take things. If you're expecting players to constantly replay linear levels over and over again you're doing it wrong.

Don't worry about 100% and it's great.

yeah, I think the core problem with that game, is the levels should be balanced around having 5 lives, not infinite retries

its fine if they have ideas for lots of levels, just split it up into multiple levels instead of one

Caddicarus made an hour long video about how much of a nightmare it was to 100% it. Shit sounds awful.

Yes, I didn't even beat it, sadly. I bought it new for full price, I made it MAYBE halfway through, and it's been collecting dust.

Getting 100% is my favorite way to play Crash 1-3.

Yeah I made the decision early on that I want gonna go for completion, they took it way too far. The 'base' game was fun though

One thing that bugged me is despite getting a shitload of gems for different things you only unlock outfits if you 100% a level. Which is difficult.

A store with costumes you could buy with gems would have at least felt like you were always rewarded for at least trying to smash all the crates. The way it is it's all or nothing.

New Crash isn't hard unless you're going for the 100 honestly. It's only too much in that regard.

the core experience was great imo

It took me way too long to finally get the deathless run on Cortex Castle and Seeing Double, but it was satisfying.

Im never getting all platinum relics in this one and I dont give a shit either. Getting them in the original Warped, all of NST and CTR NF was enough time trials for a lifetime.
