38 y/o Roo Powell, a mother of 3 from New Haven, Connecticut tells Fox News that she dresses up like a TEENAGER with costumes and makeup and other tricks to convince older men that she is a kid so she can track them down and turn them over to the police and have them arrested!!

She dedicated her life to helping the police catch predators that prey on underage girls through her nonprofit "SOSA (Safe From Online Sex Abuse)" that she launched in 2020.

She's created over a dozen aliases each with its own fake name and background and at any given time she might be talking to 30 adults contacting minors though her profile says she's 18 and doesn't tell them her "fake age" until after the first few initial conversations.

Roo says "I have to be a believable teenager. I have to sell it. but i'm also gathering as much information as possible"

Once she determines the man is a threat and identifies him, she turns him over to 5-0

She talks to older men in chatrooms and over dms and Facetime pretending to be a teen with trendy clothes and even transforms her bedroom before video chatting with the predators with colourful high school decorations and pictures depicting a student at parties along with christmas lights and pictures of celebs on the wall such as tom holland and harry styles

One username she goes by is @ur_wasian_baby and reads 15 and lovin lifeeeee chicago" and tells the New York Post it takes a lot of work to be a teen again and act like a modern girl where she has to give that alias a layered life that makes her a believable person such as making tiktoks a certain way....

In one catch, she talks to a former cop named Cullen Jones, a 45 y/o who sent her a message and it got sexual. She made plans to meet up and got the police involved and had him arrested who was already awaiting sentencing for a previous sexual misconduct with a teen and is now serving 10 years in prison

Roo says she is not law enforcement, only a poacher and does this to rope in pedophiles out there and to raise awareness of young girls who go online and get messages from creepy older men

She admits that she feels overwhelmed and upset while talking to the men but has to stay in character because the cost is too high even though it's the most stressful time in her life

She is starting off with making fake profiles on instagram but is looking to go on dating apps next such as Tinder since those too are prime places for predators

Roo doesn't believe it is entrapment because she doesn't go around looking for men to chat with as they chat with her first and the minute she tells them they are a teen, it should be up to the man to walk away first.

Also "former cop arrested for trying to hook up with teenager while awaiting sentence for prior child sexual misconduct" should really be a more shocking story than it is

Visiting family and they keep advertising the show about her on the true crime channel my BF's grandma watches. I never expected to see a Full Throttle topic about it too.

I'm mixed on this. I'm not sure her intentions are completely altruistic, as the cynical side of me thinks there's a part of her doing this for the attention or the glory. At the same time, what she's accomplishing is for the greater good. So, if it gets her an ego boost, fine.

The one thing I do find unnecessary is this:

Why even bother with the fake age to lure them in? I feel like she could put 16/17 (whatever is under legal age where she is doing this) and still get the creeps to message her. She's also creating a scenario where the pedos could say "Well, I thought she was 18" and/or "She looked older to me and gave different ages" and so on, and the reality with her being 38, they might have an out.

I'd be curious to see if there's been any convictions because of her efforts, or just some arrests.

first of all, good for her

second of all, i feel like she's putting in way more work than is necessary. not every kid has ridiculous amounts of stuff on social media. i'm not surprised- i have a few friends that get a lot of entertainment out of creating fake accounts

third, what does she do if the criminal just keeps saying that he doesn't believe the age?

four, i like to imagine this is just the most elaborate method of her convincing her S.O. that she actually wasn't cheating when she created that tinder/insta account

five, i don't like to imagine that this is simply the clearest method for her to get followers and ascend to influencer status
