So yeah this is another recommendation thread. Only things I really want considered when recommending are my low budget ($10/week set aside for buying games, so about 520-540 is probably the max I'll be able to spend on downloads if I don't get too sidetracked), I don't have a New 3DS, and I don't want recommendations for games that have been ported to PS4 or Switch. Well, okay you can recommend those, but I won't be buying them on 3DS for obvious reasons.

Games I have:

Fire Emblem Awakening/Echoes (is any of the DLC worth it?)
Pokemon Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity/Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon
Virtue's Last Reward/Zero Time Dilemma
Persona Q
Shin Megami Tensei IV
Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns
Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology

Wishlist:

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies/Spirit of Justice (plan on getting the DLC cases as well)
Fire Emblem Fates (getting all three because I hate myself apparently, also do these have any good DLC?)
Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure
Metroid: Samus Returns
Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse*
Persona Q2*
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor games
Kirby Planet Robobot
And not technically on my wishlist, but I'm also getting some DLC for Radiant Historia.

*A little hesitant on buying these on account of I still haven't cared enough to finish either of their predecessors. Are the sequels much better, let alone worth playing their predecessors just to justify purchasing them?

This is still a tentative list mind you, two in particular (Rhythm Thief and Kirby) I'll be downloading the demo versions to see if I'll actually like them before I commit to buying them.

Also just gonna preempt a few particular recommendations, I'm not especially interested in what Mario and Zelda have to offer on this system, or in revisiting older Pokemon 3DS titles, so I'll be skipping those games no matter what. Especially Pokemon, I've already played Y and Alpha Sapphire and I'm pretty much done with them.

And lastly, like, when should I actually start buying games? Some right away, hoard my money and hope for a massive sale? That'd be a much easier decision for me to make if I had a more specific deadline than just "late" March 2023.

Is there any reason to play the first one beforehand if I wasn't really vibing with it? Like, I'm already spoiled on the part of the ending where the P3 and P4 party members forget everything that happened so it doesn't interfere with canon. Is Q2 just completely its own thing story-wise then?

Yes. Q2's story isn't connected to Q1's story.

I keep hearing about how Conquest has good gameplay, and if I go for that game then fuck it, might as well get the full story so I can actually be informed about how bad it is. Don't judge, I'm already judging myself, man!

Bump on this question.

Just wondering if I need to start up each and every one of my owned titles before the online store closes.

Please and thank you for any response. :)

They've said that you can still download any games you've bought after the store "closes", and while I'm not sure if they've said anything on updates specifically, this does suggest they'll stick around.

Wait a bit for a sale for these. Ace attorney goes on sale almost monthly from Capcom. Sega had a sale at the end of the year and I got Rhythm Thief for $8. Atlus had a sale then too and their games were 60-75% off. Atlus also had a sale at the end of April last year.

If you like puzzle games, look into Pushmo and the 2 sequels.

As for the Fire Emblem Fates games. You buy either Conquest or Birthright and then buy the other as a DLC. Revelation is also a DLC. So if you buy birthright, you get Conquest as a dlc and revelation as a dlc.

I personally like Persona Q1 better. Q2 made a lot of weird gameplay choices that I didn't like

Get Soul Hackers. It's a really good SMT game and a sequel is about to be announced too.

@FurryPhilosifer

Thanks.

While I might purchase perhaps a few last titles for the 3DS before the store goes down, my most concern was missing any updated patches on the games I already own.

Nintendo doesnt deserve your money after closing down their e-shop. Look into modding instead.
