If the info I'm hearing on Reddit is correct, this is the second-to-last fight night before the postseason tournament bracket is revealed, so it's do-or-die time for a lot of teams. Anyways, here's the card for tonight: https://i.imgur.com/6LAL9Kx.jpg The main event is a battle of two long-time veterans fighting for their tournament lives as Skorpios takes on Yeti. Also on the card is Cobalt looking to continue its path of destruction after absolutely obliterating Ghost Raptor in its last fight, the first major test for the 2-0 rookie flipper Blip as it faces Lock-Jaw, and a battle of two of the most powerful weapons in BattleBots history as Deep Six looks to tame the mighty Minotaur without getting itself sunk. As usual, please put any discussion of match results under spoiler tags until 24 hours after the episode airs out of consideration for people who can't watch the episode live, especially if you decide to watch the episode early on Discovery+ before it airs on TV. I'm just going to copy/paste what I've already said in past topics. The episodes go up on Discovery+ several hours before they air on TV. If we allow all free spoilers, then Discovery+ watchers can freely ruin the episode for people who want to (or have to) watch it on TV. But if we don't put the spoiler warning on the topic at all, then we have to talk under spoiler tags for the entire topic, long after most of the people who care about it have watched the episode. The "use spoiler tags until 24 hours after the episode airs" rule is a fair compromise to meet in the middle. I really want to see the scorecards, because I bet it was 6-5, 5-6, 6-5. Also, speculation here, but I wonder how much celebrating will be done if Hydra doesn't even make it into the tournament. But hell, Blip's mechanism uses a new technique, too, and it seems to be nearly as powerful as Hydra but even faster. its hydraulic system is a really cool innovation imo. most of the flippers that came before were pneumatic, and so they had a limited number of flips before they ran out of compressed air, and also with every flip they did, the force would go down a little bit for the next one. with hydraulics, you don't have to worry about any of that. it's pretty awesome tbh. i really wish a non shitheel came up with it. i really like Blip. i haven't looked in to how its systems work, but in design and performance, it is very reminiscent of Apollo from Robot Wars, which is my whole family's favorite bot from Robot Wars. my dad said going into this season that he would love to see Apollo compete on Battlebots. I don't think Skorpios generally deserves the amount of hype that the writers try to give it, but I'll give them credit. That was a top tier battle for both them and Yeti. Duck, Gruff, and Lockjaw were all heartbreakers :( What happened to Duck? They had two decent seasons that I felt proved them pretty well but this year they've been complete a non factor in every fight. The new design isn't as sturdy as the old one, for sure. The issue is that, in order to even qualify for this season under the new building rules, they had to change their faceplate/shovel weapon. The building guidelines said that a lifter needs to be able to lift an opponent directly by some specific number of inches, and the old design couldn't do that, so they rebuilt it to have the new beak. Adding the beak probably cut down a lot on the potential for defense, and it subtracted from the available weight for internal armor, redundant drive motors, and other such advantages that the old one used to have...so now it's just another low-mid-tier bot with no working weapon and a lack of strong defense. I think I read that they're planning to retire Duck after this season, which is a shame, because he's been a lot of fun these past years. --- I write Naruto Fanfiction. So as a result only the best and/or most significant fights will get airtime. Just thumbing through then, I'd say that half of them are decent, watchable fights: Jackpot; Shatter; Shredderator to a certain extent.
