probably my favorite fire emblem. I know it basically sent the series down the path of waifu simulator, but I think it's well paced and has likable characters,

Standard fare Fire Emblem story that is produced and done very well. Classic case of a generic story presented in a way that is entertaining and engaging. Chrom and Lucina are standout characters in the series alongside Ike, Zelgius, Edelgard, Dimitri, Lyndis and Ephraim (jk on this one).

Shipping characters rules. Also the Future Past DLC was excellent - really maximized the tragedy of the situation. So glad they added that in.

It has a few great lines and moments but the narrative is super disjointed and there's a lot of telling vs showing, which is particularly disappointing for a Fire Emblem title. Most characters are pretty poorly written for the series standard too. I will say the Gangrel arc was pretty solid, but this is almost definitely the second worst FE storyline overall.

I like shipping characters in general, but especially in this game because the characters are fun and it gives you so many options.

The plot manages to be good enough to not distract from that element (and the child explanation actually makes sense and doesn't feel like a plot device to enable children characters like Fates)

My only real problem is most of the side characters don't do anything in the main plot (true in most Fire Emblems, not a problem with this one in particular) and some of the minor side characters don't allow shipping (also true in most Fire Emblems, much moreso than this one)

I'm pretty lenient with FE stories but this is easily the worst of the FE's that I enjoy. That said the characters are okay, the time travel is cool, and the Future DLC is legit great stuff. Still really enjoy the game but the story is just kind of whatever to me.
