There's a whole mess of things that have contributed to the situation outside of slavery, like discriminatory lending via the GI Bill (I'd need to double-check the exact statistic but I think 98% of post-WWII housing loans went to white dudes). Is it worth it for every Black household to get an additional $700 if it means a 20% increase in race-related crime?
