It's Thursday, you know what that means... the final night of the BattleBots regular season has arrived! Here's the card for tonight:

The final main event of the regular season pits the powerful spinners of Fusion and Icewave against each other as both of these 1-1 bots fight for their tournament lives. Also tonight, Glitch looks to keep up the momentum after its shocking upset over Hydra a few weeks ago, Switchback tries to chop down HUGE, and lovable memebot Rusty returns to action. At the end of the episode, the bracket for the 32-team BattleBots championship tournament will be revealed. As usual, please put any discussion of match results under spoiler tags until 24 hours after the episode airs out of consideration for people who can't watch the episode live, especially if you decide to watch the episode early on Discovery+ before it airs on TV. For this week, this includes the reveal of the tournament bracket and any discussion about the seedings and matchups.

i think bloodsport deserved the win, but i came away thinking that claw viper was the better bot

I can't agree with that second point, but I do think that was a very inspiring performance in a loss by Claw Viper. That kind of loss to a very good bot could be what separates them from the other 1-2 bots and lets them sneak into the tournament.

i know, it sounded totally wrong the moment i posted it. what i was trying to say is that, in a fight of unlimited time, i think he would eventually have tossed bloodsport ou and won. but the rules are the rules, and they would have been different bots under different rules. so i now say, bloodsport was indeed the better bot.t

Does anybody else watch this on Discovery Plus?

Two pretty impressive knockouts by Mad Catter and HUGE. Time for Kraken vs. Glitch, and as much as I like Kraken, I'm cheering for the rookies that beat Hydra to make it to 3-0.

I don't. I only paid for a month of it when the Bounty Hunters episodes were on there last season, and I heard that there might be more Bounty Hunters stuff put on there this season too.

That was the best I've ever seen Lucky look. Rusty on the other hand... F in the chat.

Icewave vs. Fusion went... a bit anticlimactically, to say the least. One big weapon clash, then Icewave loses their weapon but Fusion loses something internally and just dies. It's a great bot, but reliability issues strike at the worst times.

The bracket looks really interesting. The top 4 seeds are Sawblaze, Whiplash, Ribbot, and End Game, while Blip is the highest-seeded rookie bot as the 7 seed. Two additional play-in fights have been added: Hydra vs. Defender to see who faces Ribbot, and Skorpios vs. Malice to see who faces End Game.

As much as we would all have loved to see a Whyachi family feud play-in fight, Fusion unfortunately didn't make the cut. Speaking of snubbed bots, P1 finally makes it into the tournament after getting snubbed a couple of times in the past and I'm happy for them.

As for specific matchups... Cobalt vs. Yeti, Mad Catter vs. Black Dragon, Minotaur vs. Bloodsport, and Jackpot vs. Tombstone are all happening in the first round, and all of those sound like absolutely insane fights that are going to end with a lot of carnage.

Overall, I really like this bracket. I'll think about it more and fill out my predictions after the 24-hour spoiler moratorium ends.

ya, i have no way to judge the strength of the various robots, or the accuracy of the seedings, but i am looking forward to the competition

The HUGE vs Uppercut match should be very interesting and good for Ribbot taking the 2nd seed. Looks to be a fun tournament.

I still have to watch the recording, but looking at the fight card... Rusty vs Witch Doctor? That would be quite the upset if Rusty won.

Also, it might be my own bias, but I feel like the episode would be less thrilling overall than some of the previous ones...

Blade seeming to have some drive/traction issues, but gets the job done. Good for them not going winless in their first BB season.

I think I'm 100% rooting for Ribbot to take it all. Them or Whiplash.

I love Glitch and I'm super impressed with it going 3-0, but I also don't want to see Witch Doctor knocked out of the very first round...

Agreed on both counts. But if Hydra wins the play-in and then knocks out Ribbot, then it's right back to me hating Jake Ewert's guts.

It's insane that Captain Shrederator is actually in the championship bracket. I know they had that one really good fight but come onnnn, I really don't want a match where it's BOOM-annnnd Shrederator has stopped spinning.
