I've finished 6 story dungeons and still no fucks so far

Oh, and I thought it was awesome that the second story dungeon was just an alternate layout Sastasha from FFXIV and there was even a note suggesting it was copied from the XIVth dimension.

My only issue with what I've seen so far is the beginning where itt narrates that the group has to go fight monsters to be able to go to the first shrine and then just shrugs and says okay they did it in the next sentence. Let me fight those infamous monsters.

But that's just the thing - So Bad It's Good usually only works when the director/writer/etc does it unintentionally.

The gameplay itself actually looks really good from what I've seen.

Can confirm that it's really, really good and fluid combat and the only jank I've experienced is like. Trying to shoot magic over an environmental pile of rubble made it hit the wall and miss the enemy even though I was halfway up a set of stairs, but they could fire a laser over the top of the rubble from the ground level because they're so tall.

Only done the first dungeon, but the dialogue is fuckin hilarious. Not sure if it's intentional, though?

I love how the trio dresses like isekai'd H&M models when literally no one else in this old-timey fantasy world dresses like that, but no one points it out or even cares.

Gameplay is super solid, though. Love playing as Pugilist and Mage.

I'm fine with it looking like a PS3 launch game but I'm really baffled as to why the resolution looks so so low on top of that. I thought that would be something they'd have figured out for the full release.

Yeah, I refuse to buy this on PC because of EGS but I'm not playing a goddamn PS5 game below 1080p either so I'm holding off on this one

IIRC it's apparently a massive resource hog on PC as well. (Someone said it was using like 98% CPU just for running the game at 50fps on minimal settings.)

This is one of the reasons I've always preferred text dialog in RPGs. It is downright painful to listen to actual people deliver these lines

I bought it, this is the game I clearly can't miss

It's like all the story ideas of FFXV was mixed with the script of FFI, then the game was made by someone who gave no fucks, and then Nomura designed the characters.

So I bought it, and all I can say so far is that the combat system is way better than it has any right to be

Yeah, I suck ass at the gameplay, but it's definitely super solid. Pleasantly surprised.

And I love the level design. The second and fourth dungeons have been super pretty.

This is like a reverse Balan Wonderworld. That game had incredible cutscenes and absolutely awful gameplay, whereas this laughably terrible cutscenes and incredible gameplay.

But the interesting part is that combination actually works.

The thing that makes "So Bad It's Good" games so rare is that unlike movies, which can be viewed passively and you can enjoy the schlock without much effort, video games are not just dialogue and cutscenes - they also have game play. And to that extent, the few "SBIG" games that actually pull it off (Deadly Premonition, God Hand) typically have really interesting (if sometimes not entirely well designed) game mechanics and are not fundamentally broken.

A fun tidbit fact is that Nioh was almost universally viewed as a probable-flop right up to release by the developer and publisher, because it had a crazy development history and virtually no one on the project thought it was good until they played the final release and realized it somehow congealed into an amazing game. But knowing that, you can see the aspects of the game that made them feel that way - the story is a dumpster fire in presentation, and the characters are one-dimensional and poorly written.

Ronin/ Samurai is getting eh because using the stance requires you standing still and waiting to attack for the most part. The stance is awkward to use in the middle of a hectic fight
