I've been playing this game for a little while now, picked it back up after starting it a year or two ago and not getting very far.

Damn, this game is probably one of the more satisfying games to advance in. It really doesn't hold your hand at all, so when you end up figuring something out it feels awesome.

There are still a few things I'm working on, so no spoilies unless under Spoily tag please, but hoping to finish up soon.

Also this game is kinda hard lol

It's one of my top 5 games of all time. Please stick with it. The ending and DLC are so good.

I feel like I've been hitting so many walls, but stuck with it and ended up solving things. Haven't checked a guide at all which is really satisfying.

I have probably 3-4 things in my ship log that are still ? marks, that I'm trying to figure out, but hoping to stick with it without a guide

i never finished the outer wilds, but i want to. it was so fun to play but i got stuck on some gravity puzzle. apparently i solved one of the games major puzzles relatively quickly though landing on the quantum moon

One of the best games I've ever played in my life and I wish I could forget it all to play it again, because sadly it is a game with absolutely zero replayability.

Ugh I am struggling with one part. Its really hard not to look at a guide lol

Outer worlds is dat ARPG from Obsidian dat came out in 2019.

I finished it a few months ago and thought it was beautiful. Might be my favorite game ever. Thinking about getting an OW tattoo.

The best advice I can give for trying to get unstuck is to make good use of your ship log. Look for where there are connections, reread text talking about clues you've found, hunt down anywhere that still says "there's more to explore here". But don't get too complacent about that last one since the absense of that text does not necessarily mean you've found every little thing in that area

i've hit a wall in the game because i absolutely can't do anything on giant's deep. if that whole planet was replaced with a completely different one i'd be all over it

The Forgotten City is a similar game I enjoyed. Not nearly of the same calibre, but it is very much of the "stuck in an area during a time loop and trying to figure out what's going on" type. The area is a roman city though, and it's based on a Skyrim mod, so there's a lot more talking involved.

I started the game before the DLC was even out (maybe before it was announced), and then just recently returned to my save file. Haven't even looked into the DLC at all, I don't know how the game ends so I don't want to read about the DLC in case it spoils anything

Don't do the DLC until you beat the main game, imo.

But yeah there were one or two things I had to look up in order to beat the main story. I swear one thing was almost impossible to know without looking it up. Otherwise, you should hopefully be able to figure out most of it.

Ok so I was really stuck on the Tower of Quantum Knowledge and how to get up in there so I glanced at a guide and it seemed so obvious after the fact.

But now that I have gotten the information from there, I thought I would have found a more clear route. I'm still kinda lost.

The only ? marks I have left are "Ash Twin", "Sixth Location", "Quantum Shrine", and "Quantum Moon".

With Ash Twin and Quantum Moon being the big ones.

I've found the Quantum Moon several times while in my spaceship and tried to fly into it but it just spits me back out. Solanum says that you have to enter at the South pole but there's no way to tell which pole you're near on the space ship that I can tell.

So I'm kind of hitting a wall here with the Quantum Moon.

Then for the Ash Twin, I've spent a lot of time on both of the hourglass twins. Can't seem to figure out what I'm missing here. I've let the sand move from Ash to Ember and can see that the core chamber is covered with a hard casing from the Timber Hearth mines, so I can't get into a central chamber (not sure i'm supposed to be able to). Is there a special door or cave or something I'm supposed to look for?

Not ready for full on spoilers yet but kinda at the point where I just don't know where else to explore

I don't think there's anything that comes up as "Unknown" anymore on my signalscope with the Quantum fluctuations

I'm pretty sure you actually have the answer for the one of the things spelled out in this post. You just haven't made the connection yet.

It's really hard to give out hints without spoiling.

in that case you might want to use rumour mode of the ship log (which groups entries by subject) and just look through all the quantum related stuff again

Hmm its tough to give hints for this without giving it away. If youve found all the Quantum frequencies, Id review what your ships log told you what you learned about each one.

Going to have to stop for the night, but a couple of random thoughts:

It's crazy how far away you can get from the planets by drifting, and the game doesn't knock you back into the solar system because you went too far

Also, I found a red dot in the distance that I was able to target, and head towards. When I finally caught up with it, it was hurling toward me and whizzed right by me. It looked like a satellite just flying around. That's pretty cool if that's what it was

That's probably the map satellite, if you bump into it you can knock it off course and your solar system map stops working lol

Going to try to ask this question without giving too much detail as to what I'm attempting, so that I don't get a direct spoilery answer.

But... I'm attempting a way to enter the Quantum Moon, and .. holy fuck, is it just me, or do you have to be extremely precise to make this work?

I'm going nuts and really tempted to check a guide just to make sure that what I'm attempting is actually what I'm supposed to do, I haven't been at all successful because of how precise I have to be with my shuttle.

Lol your comment made me look closer at the Quantum Moon stuff and so I thought, based on the reading that I was supposed to turn my headlights off, and that I needed to enter the Quantum Moon basically on the dark side of the moon. So I was hovering with my space ship with my headlights off, in the dark, trying to land on the moon on the dark side, and I noticed my Quantum signal scope would get multiple indicator lines as I got closer to the moon in the right spot. So I thought I had to line them all up but it was impossible to do so

turns out I have to take a picture and that's all I have to do lmao

Now gotta figure out what to do on the Quantum Moon

lol yup. It was one of those things it was hard to give a hint on without giving it away. The hints given were trying to point you at the quantum rule you learned on Giants Deep.

Well dammit! I actually bought The Outer Worlds because I thought this game sounded right up my alley, and then I was pretty disappointed but figured I just didn't remember everything I'd heard right and was also wrong in the first place.

ive found that increasing the deadzones in the controls makes it easier to pilot through there. but yeah that place is spoopy

During my first playthrough I would get a little stoned, thinking it was just a relaxing space exploration game. Entering Dark Bramble while high is not advised.

How long is the Echoes of the Eye DLC? How does it hold up to the main game?

10-15 hours?? depending on how stuck you get it coulld be longer maybe. it's very good imo but (obviously) does not have the same sense of finality as the main game. the atmosphere is a bit different overall but it definitely feels like a worthy add-on that's also a contained thing in itself.

things it has a lot of: following clue trails, piecing together past events, making inferences from groups of related information

things it doesn't have much of: flying the spaceship, witty text/dialogue

I also think it's a little more linear / has a little less freedom than the main game. not that it's totally on rails but your exploration is a bit more confined imo

For all the loops I was was expecting a way to stop the supernova. Then when I got to the Sun Station and realized the universe is just dying, I still thought there was a way I could fix it. Nope, it was just the end of our universe. But the way the writers didnt make this feel like a bad thing was truly beautiful. Our time was over and thats okay.

yep, totally agreed. I will say this game had a lot of soul. Ill continue listening to the soundtrack and thinking about what happened for a while after this. The end campfire was pretty powerful.

ill probably hold off for a little while before getting the DLC, but kinda looking forward to jumping into that eventually

I'd say do it now, honestly. It's not long at all and you can get double the emotion when you go back to the Eye after you finish it since your experience is so fresh. And yes i said go back. Two new things will be there when you're done. One is attention to detail, the other is experienced blind.

The playlist I found on Spotify has this track but it seems to be a different version. The one you posted is longer and you hear the instruments joining in for longer before the whistling starts. I like the version you posted better- is this on an official OST collection somewhere?
