Two possible reasons

1. Mr Fantastic will be introduced soon and they don't want two stretchy heroes
2. Stretch and growth powers are tough to do on a TV budget, even the advanced budget of a D+ series.

They showed her arms expanding so it looks like she still has that. I guess they just bumped up her powers a little so that shed actually be useful in an Avengers movie

Yeah it's definitely not that.

It looks a little too sitcom made for kids for me, but idk if Im even the target audience lol.

Ill still watch it of course though.

Curious about the direction theyre going with this. In the comics she was Inhuman, right? But it looks like here shes got some artifact thingy. <_<

I'd assume Carol was on earth alot between Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. Kamala could have seen her a fair bit then? Although it's possible Carol was only acting in Space.

Ms Marvel is setting up The Marvels. Which is the sequel movie to Captain Marvel, and the one you are likely thinking of.

Pretty sure one of the early lines in Endgame is that Carol is spending much of her time dealing with the rest of the galaxy while the other Avengers are dealing with Earth.

And even were that the case, it wouldn't mean that Carol is a public figure like Tony or Steve.

That doesn't look like her hand expanding. It looks like the purple telekinesis light forming the shape of a fist.

From watching the trailer on mute, it looks like they're giving her some bracelets that give her a sort of tactile telekinesis power that can emulate her comics power. Instead of stretching her arm to close the door, she reaches out and does it with the light power.

Yeah, it's not hard to imagine her being a public icon in the MCU. It bears mentioning that most of the Avenger's onscreen actions are outside the public eye, yet their iconography is still present in the world. Take Vision for example - isn't a particularly outgoing sort, yet is known enough by the public that a high school news show mourns his passing alongside Tony and Cap (even if they could only find a grainy smartphone pic of him). So word of the Avengers' exploits are clearly getting out there.

Bystanders who lived within a 50-mile radius of the Avengers compound no doubt witnessed Thanos' massive fuck-off ship getting singlehandedly obliterated by a lone cosmic figure, so that's invariably going to lead to some serious iconography / hero-worship in the MCUverse.

They changed her powers quite a bit. Hopefully this will be better than the shitty comics (Well most of the MCU is already better) and the trailer looks okay.

Still need to catch up with everything. Ever since Spiderman far from home, I kinda fell off the MCU track. Too much shit to keep up with like Loki, Wandavision ect.

nice. My only exposure is in the Avengers game. Interesting they changed her power, this looks almost like an action show mixed with John Hughes teen drama

They the fuck does she have random plasma powers . And it seems to come from those breakers she was wearing.

Honestly, this feels like the most reasonable guess. No way they would finally have the "first family" finally appear in the MCU and have Mr fantastic show up only to be the second character with stretchy limbs.

Looks pretty cool.

She will be in The Marvels(Captain Marvel 2)

I really liked the comic book effects at the beginning of the trailer, it worked great in Into the Spiderverse, and that would be a nice touch to differentiate this from the other Marvel stuff, since Spider-Man Homecoming and Far From Home already cover the teen high school drama genre.

the trailer looks promising, but I'm disappointed she didn't use any stretchy powers in it.

the other posts in this topic explaining why make sense, but I feel like the powers we've seen from the comics are such a big part of her character, seeing these new powers instead is kinda jarring.

This might be why but I think its dumb. Im not even sure if Mr Fantastic is more popular than Ms Marvel at this point. That and there are 20 super soliders and then widows are practically super soliders at this point. Theres 3 hulk characters. A few iron men people and every mage sort of boils down to kamehamehas...but 2 stretchy people is too many

Not familiar with her comic powers before this topic, but feel like these cosmic limbs and projections is a nice blend of her comic powers and the aesthetic of Captain Marvel's.

Plus as others said, they're probably avoiding immediately copying Reed Richards who Marvel will hope to be a huge aspect of the MCU.

honestly, didn't look too interesting. i'm really into MCU but i won't eat up anything they throw at me and this one looks like i won't miss out if i don't see it.

I hope it's good but for some reason I have this weird feeling they're gonna mess this one up. Could simply be the power change but I dunno. Not sure if magical bracelets is the right fit here. Especially if she loses her powers if she doesn't wear them.

I guess the idea is to make her more similar to Captain Marvel. Even then I think a simple change of having her have kinetic limbs instead of her actual limbs would be enough of a tweak to bridge the original depiction and that idea. They do that briefly with the fist but I think all of her powers should have followed that limitation.

Surely she'll still have some way to embiggen right?

I will say I think the Avengers game actually did an excellent job with the character and that's the bar I'm comparing it to here. Ironic in a way since most of those characters felt like B-Grade versions of the movies and I'm concerned with the opposite happening here.

This probably won't happen, but maybe she'll lose the bracers by the end of the show and develop the stretch powers.
